2014 Class 6A Coaches Poll

Are you running for Village Idiot? First of all incoming middle-"schoolers" won't have any impact on this years varsity team. Second: I have been on the DB threads every day and nobody is predicting or talking about this years team being great or anything near great. The closest thing anybody has said to what your referring to is that we "might" be better than we first thought due to the team speed and running the no-huddle offense. Nobody, as of this morning had mentioned anything about being ranked in the top 10. And personally I would not have ranked them in the top 10. I think their a year away from getting back in true form.

Since DB has already been anointed state champs in 2015,16, and maybe 17 by KingIndian I guess my question is who will they play in the finals? Anybody wanna take a stab?

I'll give you props for taking a stab at it but that doesn't come close to backing up your post. Who ever GaddisTossSweep is he's not a DB fan. And in his post he says KingIndian has anointed DB state champs in 2015, 16 and 17 and I think that is just something the guy made up to be sarcastic. There are people excited about the players DB has coming up but I don't think anyone has outright in a serious way predicted DB will win a state championship. I've heard people say DB could or might win it. I think your to anxious to make DB fans look like their boasting so you can then post sarcastic crap like you did in your first post on this thread.

Yeah winning a state title means a LOT of stuff has to fall into place, and we even have to include "luck" to some degree.    And by "luck", that sometimes applies to other teams losing who are not supposed to lose so the brackets get set up differently, etc.    But don't sell your guys short until the season gets underway, you may be better than you think.  And there is always a chance Maryville could get knocked out (SC maybe??) before you have to face them, anything is possible.    The Rebels cannot stay on top forever, they have to have a down year occasionally.     Ok, now that last statement is going to lead to rebuttals from Rebels fans.....

I'll beat them to it. Maryville will beat SC by 30.

I think that feeling is just gas....

Kreager much?

Nope. I told everyone who would listen that Maryville would go 15-0 last year, and I'm not saying they won't this year. I just know that Oakland is going to be better than any Boro team from the past few years. That might be enough to get over the hump and it might not. Week 14 is going to be a great game though. There's absolutely NO ONE in 6A who can give Maryville a game before that.

Getum waco !! Ur right and to oh gaddis fumbled the sweep because based on my past posts i said in the next 2-4 years we could have a gold ball possibly two and behind that i had a "maybe" if they grow up and play as they did in the lower years ..

And yes i do belive indians will be better than alot thought this year but again 2015 2016 season will be the ones wer indians ranking will be true

Maryville will be 15-0 and state champions again there a machine u cant stop

BS they can lose! They are humans lol. Now it is unlikely they will lose often but they are not a machine, they are a bonifide all star team. 12-1 has a very nice ring to it from my point of view but Im a bit biased. I dont expect them to keep smashing the Bears but only time will tell. Until then I hope that Smoky Bear nation does not take your point of view because believing you can beat them has to be the 1st step. You clearly know the govs cant beat them I guess its a bad time to be a gov fan. I would think most RESPECTABLE programs would think they have a chance on any given friday night. Heck the Bears had their butts handed to them by the champs 2 times last year & everyone I know cant wait to get another chance. Coach Brewer sent a message to everyone when he sought out the Rebs as a non conference game. SC wants to be the Champs and the only chance they have is to play the best more often. That is why DB is on our schedule they are 1 of the best.

Now as for the ranking I like where the Bears are at 8. But on any given friday they can beat anybody. Thats what we believe around here!

GoBears!!!

Besides maybe Oakland and a few other select teams it'll take a near perfect if not perfect game by any team to beat Maryville this year. That means no turnovers and no special teams flub ups. The Rebs seem to take advantage of every mistake, no matter how small the mistake may be. I will agree that no team is unbeatable, though especially in HS where the kids emotions and mental state are in play a lot of the time.

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
