IMO, the TSSAA will vote for a placing all private schools into D2. After they complete that act and get everything completed the D2 schools will announce that they are going to leave the TSSAA and form another athletic association for high school athletics in Tennessee.

you are close.....what will happen is you'll see the large privates form the old private southern school league where the top private schools from TN, MS, AL, GA, NC create a super league.  And when this does happen, these schools will receive even more talent then they currently do.  There might be one or two college reps at a 6A game to watch one player, but when this super confrence is created, you better build an extra press box to handle all the scouts that will attend to see all the D1 talent.  The privates will drain all the D1 talent away from all the small public schools and a majority of the larger schools

Just like back in the 60's & 70's when the old Mid-South Conference had Castle Heights with players such as Bobby Majors. The phrase of "keep your friends close and keep the enemy closer" should very much be part of this discussion. The large private schools and especially the private boarding schools will get 90% of all the public school athletes that they want. It will be like Sherman marching through Atlanta. IMO, the best thing for the public schools would be to place the D2 schools back into a division with the open zoned public schools for athletics. By placing the D2 schools back into D1 the public schools could make the rules. If the D2 schools form another division the public schools will have zero control over the private schools.

The public schools have the majority of votes on the TSSAA Board of Control which makes the rules. If the D2 schools are not playing by the rules established by the Board of Control they should be reported as cheating. It's easy to point fingers and listen to rumors but to convict someone you must have proof. To the best of my knowledge the last D2 school convicted of any significant illegal activity was Montgomery Bell Academy and that was several years ago. Edited by cbg
