Why are you quoting me? Someone made this thread originally to stir the pot. They were a Cleveland fan and didn't have any connection to WB or Maryville. I just said I wasn't that upset because it was already apparent that it was going to be a long year whether McGill stayed or left at that point. Plus I was dealing with my own problems that were bigger than high school football.

I have actually spoken highly of McGill. I have been talking about how much he could have helped us the past two years all season.

Finally, I think you are exaggerating what was said. I think what people actually said is your son would have to wait to be a starter at Maryville when he could have been a four year starter at WB.  And that ended up being true. So why are you butthurt? You got what you wanted. Good luck the rest of the year. Maryville is going to need to play better than they have lately to win another championship.

If he would have been a four year starter he would’ve been plagued by injuries. Not butt hurt but gratified that I decided it was time to leave after Lenoir City game in 2017. A two year starter at Maryville was the beat thing for him, check his statistics. He’s very high in record books. Personally I still don’t think he gets enough credit but I’m biased so it really doesn’t matter

Maybe Mr.MaGill might share with everyone why they left WB since it's all out in the open right now and maybe you might learn something from a parents point of view. Not much to take a potshot at when your winning 6A Championships but I do give them a lot of grief over the concessions and the NFHS. My potshots at the county is to point the finger at why these two giant schools are not competitive. The only coach that has won there since modern times is Scott Meadows but because of a couple of butthurt people in charge there would rather cut their nose off to spite their face as to go get him back and put up with Vacation Shad is what keeps them down and always will. We always hear about the county kids going over to Maryville but you can't convince me in a hundred years of all those new Maryville Subdivisions a quarter mile from the front door of WB that they don't have a few kids on the team that live in those homes.

It’s easy..No discipline, clowns for coaches. The culture will never change because parents do want better for there kids and move them to a better school (athletic). I didn’t want to gamble with my boys health or future. I know he’s not a big time D1 athlete but he his a college athlete. I didn’t feel he would develop into what he is now anywhere else. Parker is almost 45lbs heavier and extremely strong being in Maryville weight room. In my opinion when your lineman are benching 200-225 you have a problem. Wb has no discipline on any aspect of the game. Players can only mirror the coaches. Like I said it’s not the schools fault, it’s select few that run the football program. Kids can only do what they’ve been taught to do.

If colleges can find players at Karns, they can find them at WB.  That's not an excuse. Nowadays, with online platforms like Hudl coaches will find the athletes anywhere.

I agree with this. You get out of recruiting what you put into it. Coaches can recognize good players on bad teams vs. good players on winning teams. If you're a D1 player at WB it'll show, if you're a D2, D3 player at WB you'lll be that Maryville. If you get recruited over than  you're  a hometown hero of what might of been.

This thread has intrigued my interest as I feel like this happens at all different levels and schools across the states. First, Let’s pump the brakes here sir about blasting an “organization” which is not because organizations are businesses. As you go and blast a school on their current situation for what they did to you or your son I am sure you have every reason to state your concern. We all can make those choices that is why we love this great land.

As a preacher I love to gather all information before accusing any wrong doing on anyone or anything. This research shows that you are a William Blount Grad and you did enrolled your son as a Freshman at William Blount. He  which started or played (significant amount of playing time) as a Freshman for a 6A program. Your Son Played (ONE) Friday night Contest and played in the JV game that following Monday. When Tuesday morning came. You sir then withdrew your son from William Blount to enroll at Maryville. This happen 3 years ago as your son is a senior now. Is this information correct?
(Yes or No answer would be fantastic)

If Yes, what gives you right to bash a program or school that you have no affiliation with anymore? Even worse you are a (GRADUATE) of that school!

If No, why come out now attacking a program and people on a message board when it seems like they tried their best to help your son succeed. (Outsider point of view)

Maryville is a great program that is top tier school in the state and on the field. Your son is having a tremendous year from your stats. If those people at William Blount are fueling his fire. Why stoop down to that level of embarrassment. (In your case).

Please note, I do not call anyone out or do I think anyone is wrong about an issue. However, the other side of the stories people are struggling too.

Again,

You are exaggerating. I have seen a lot of kids make big gains in our football weight program. That has been one of the positives Shad has brought to WB.  And I see that you threw out numbers for benching.  What percentage of high school football players are benching between 200 and 250 pounds? I'm guessing more than you can imagine. Not everybody is a body builder that can bench 300+. Things like squats, leg presses, and deadlifts are more important for linemen anyway. My brother was a starting defensive lineman in high school and he benched around 225. He was a good player too.

Finally, I have been around the WB football program for well over a decade. The culture is better now than it has been at any time since we won 9 games in 2007.

Also, kids mirror their parents too.
