Who are the best high school football teams in Tennessee this season? The USA Today Network - Tennessee has started its Tennessee Super 25 poll. A group of statewide high school sports writers from across the network will vote each week on the top 25 teams in Tennessee.

Here is the preseason poll with first-place votes in parentheses.

Last season: 13-1 in Class 6A. This week: at Independence

2. Brentwood Academy (1) 139 pts

Last season: 12-0 in Division II-AAA. This week: vs. Hillsboro

3. McCallie 126 pts

Last season: 8-4 in Division II-AAA. This week: at Chattanooga Christian

4. Ravenwood 122 pts

Last season: 10-3 in Class 6A. This week: at Centennial.

Maryville and Alcoa way underrated. Same with Fulton and Knox. Catholic.  I am glad Oak Ridge is ranked but polls really don't mean much. All in fun so I appreciate the work that went into this poll and I will follow it has the season rolls along.

Besides the teams already mentioned, the one that gets me is McCallie. They are not a top 5 Maybe top 15 but not a top 5.

Gotta over look the middle and west Tennessee bias polls. These polls are useless.

Any statewide poll is pretty useless imo. No way any one person or your common group of sports writers can accurately rate high school teams without showing a bias.

It’ll probably a lot of overreactions and this will change substantially after tonight’s games. Top teams lose one game against another top team and people jump off a cliff.

That is true to an extent but then you got Teams like Maryville, Alcoa, Greeneville that should be top 5 no matter who watches what.
