Too be fair I think @Croppygenius said the most talented team. I don’t think it’s arguable that NCS with Daniel Bituli and Brant Lawless and seems like they had a D1 running back signee that year as well, would be the most talented team. I agree UC 14 was the most complete team.

They had more than 1  d1 linemen and yeah I think the rb was d1 also.   It smells funny to me that a school with what 150-200 kids had that many d1 players.

peabody would have 4 gold balls instead of 3 if it wasn’t for ncs

I agree with you. No 1A team in SP’s region can beat them and no 1A team in Greenback’s can beat them. We could see the same 4 teams in the semis.

And West win again, GB needs alot At lease 2 RB's, QB, WR's. SP needs to pass they don't coz they don't have to. Just my 2 cents but if SP would go at lease 60|40 run pass. Maybe they wouldn't score 60 but you have too be comfortable passing to get gold ball.

You realize our QB was out for the semifinal game which meant our best receiver was at QB?

I didn’t get to watch the 97 team but I did watch the 98 championship and they murdered USJ. Trousdale scored every time they touched the ball

The 97 team could have won it all in any classification. This was when only 2 teams from each region made the playoffs.

Round 1: 49-6 over DCA

Round 2: 41-12 over Celina

Round 3: 56-0 over CPA

Round 4: 48-7 over Oneida

Chanpionship: 45-0 over Clarksville Academy

Didn't there starting Qb have a broken collar bone and could not play against GB, I seen film on the kid he could spin it pretty well.

Everytime someone says NCS was the best ever i always says 2014 UC was better. The year before that 2015 NCS team got beat 35-0 by UC. Your'e telling me one year made them 5 TD's better? i think not.

That's my way of thinking on it too. If NCS would've made it a closer game I could see that argument

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
