I would trust @FridayMainEvent ranking before Murphy.  I could see how Murphy believes that the West is Wide open but maybe he knows something about AC we don't.  Betsy returns almost their entire team from last year and should be the favorites with everyone they have coming back.  Coming out of the East you know the team is going to be battle tested coming into the Semi's and Finals.

I agree. FME knows his stuff.

But Anderson Co will have to get thru both of them  I just don’t see that happening. I think greeneville and Betsy have much better odds than AC. Definitely better than Jackson NS.

That has been an on going issue getting through both Greeneville and Betsy. Injuries have not helped the past. This year is bit different. It appears AC has depth and plenty of it based on some reports; if accurate. I would almost take a guess and say this is the best year the Mavs have a chance since being in 4A. But that is only an guess. :o

I agree if we have a football season with a little twist on the old saying. To be the "best"this year, you have to first beat the "Betsy".Last year, that's what Elizabethton done and now they are on top of the 4A mountain.

Well Betsy is the team this year. If we have a year. Even playing in the winter is better than not playing at all.

That's one reason the regular season game between Betsy and Greeneville is SO important.   The loser of that game has to go on the road against the Mav's then if they escape that, they'll also have to beat the winner of the first contest on the road.

Anderson County had better be careful not to a assume that region title every year.  Grant Reynolds is building a program over at East Hamilton.   They'll eventually be in the mix if not this year.

Those @FridayMainEvent guys know their stuff, that’s for sure. I have mad respect for what they do for high school football during and after the season.

Regarding previous posts as to Springfield, you play who you play. The Jackets schedule tough teams out of region to get better for the playoffs. Marshall County did beat us soundly during the regular season, but had the two teams met during the playoffs I’m not sure the results would have been the same. I will also state the obvious in that the top teams from the NE were better than Springfield when they met in the finals. I am one that believes in the old saying that anything can happen on a given day, and that’s why I look forward to the day a gold ball comes back to Springfield. I will never count our boys out.

I have a lot of respect for what has been done at Greeneville and Elizabethtown and can only hope that Springfield continues on the path it has started and can the establish the type of tradition that Greeneville has.

I think that the East side of the bracket will be between the big three of Greeneville, Elizabethtown, and Anderson County. The West, IMO, will be between Hardin County, Haywood County, and Springfield.

You can never count Springfield out while Coach Wilson is walking the sidelines.   Class act and great coach!

Greeneville imo is still the flag bearer for the East when it comes to 4A. Im super stoked EHS won a title and proved we can finally get over that hump. However I don't know how long the window will be open for EHS to win a title, I can only hope we can sustain it like Greeneville. I've said for years after the Alcoa game that came down to the wire EHS was closing the gap and they have improved every year. As for the bracket, It's definitely between us, Greeneville and AC. Another reason I think the East dominates is scheduling. EHS and Greeneville annually have the chance to see each other twice, I don't think there is a team in the west that has to face a team that tough twice potentially.

    • While I appreciate being credited with multiple accounts, I have to say that is not true. Will you please report back to your people that I am not someone who provides sharp, witty banter, but rather someone who is putting the shoe on the other foot for some people that have been repeatedly bashing others here and in real life for the past few years? Everything that I have stated has been backed by factual evidence or public record, so no need to be sharp and witty.
    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
