South Pittsburg vs Marion County (Pirates vs Warriors)

Well Bassy, I think both of us are snake bitten trying to get out to a game. This is very unfortunate for the young bloods on both sides of the ball. Hope all is well and a quick recovery for the people involved on the Marion County side. As fer SP, those pockets are probably feeling a little empty but maybe things can be arranged for a future show down.

Things seem like they were gettin tense in here for a moment. If this old geezer's eyesight still works, even though just barely, I could have sworn it looked like two fellers for the orange and black were slangin them skillets at each other. This rivalry is something else, Pirates get the W and are fighting amongst each other. Old P might have to get the orignial skillet slinger in here to put an end to the bickering :roflol:

He already has a win, so that's one part of it. He would have to drop someone already on schedule and play us in that place. I'm not sure he would do that. He has a lot of region games closing out the season so he can't just switch those. We have 2 games that we wouldn't mind not playing honestly. The 2 5A schools Walker Valley and Rhea Co. I just dont think the schedules could line up to play sp without Vic having to break a "contract" with another

the only possible thing would be breaking contract with Meigs. Red Bank will gate as much money as the Jasper game but to do this yall will have to break contract with WC. Not a good look from either. Schedules are hard enough to fill and breaking contracts could make it even harder down the road.

I was just told we will be dropping WV and playing Tyner that week. Already talked to Turner so I guess we wait till next year

I saw highlights of the RB game last night. There were less than a couple hundred people for them. Are they limiting tickets like LV?

All of Hamilton County is. Or at least they are supposed to be.

What does it cost to renege on a contract?

I saw the final play highlight of the RedBank/EastHam game.  The crowd was awfully sparce and I've been told Red Bank always has a thin crowd supporting them anyways.

I don't believe it costs anything. This was the last year we were playing them and Rhea anyway. We have no business playing 5A schools honestly.

That’s convenient for Marion. Walker Valley looks like a good team as well. You don’t have to play SP or WV.. wow.. talk about some answered prayers in 2020.

Yeah we sure have been lucky haven't we.

Not sure how convenient it was. We actually scheduled them knowing they were a good team along with Rhea Co

Surely there's some amount of money negotiated into a contract if a party reneges. Otherwise you'd have contracts broken willy nilly without any type of punishment.

Is Walker Valley without a game on that date now?

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
