Then they need to go away and let someone with a brain take over high school sports. 6 classifications in football is stupid and almost every decision they make is stupid so they need to be fired.

There has to be a regulatory body.  If they leave the TSSAA and form a new organization, there will just be whining and gnashing of teeth at whoever the new regulatory body has in place whenever a decision is made that some don't agree with.

The schools themselves are the TSSAA.  They vote on representatives and officers, and they have the final say on matters that come for a vote.

Comment from McMinn County coach Bo Cagle on the situation at Dobyns-Bennett: "We got positive confirmation on the way up there that we had a COVID case on the team. Now the thing about it was, the COVID case was not with the team." (1/2)"So we thought everything would be all right once we got the word, and then they (D-B) got I guess the same call about us having one, and the Sullivan County Health Department would not allow the game to be played." (2/2)

Also, Cagle noted that McMinn did not practice Wednesday, and the player who tested positive did not practice with the team Thursday.

Also, from TSSAA executive director Bernard Childress: "A decision will not be made until we get all the facts. The schools will submit their side on Monday." "Anything is possible but playing the game next week is highly unlikely."

What's very likely is that the gutless TSSAA will declare it a no contest, both teams are out, and Maryville gets a bye and extra week to rest, scout, and get ready for Oakland.  That way they don't have to make a tough decision, and help out one of the state darlings!  Don't be surprised with that result!!

What a Clown , The TSSAA Changed the rules a few years ago because all the crying coming from " The SEC of TN High school Football " area ... The Maryville Rules ... and it wasn't to help Maryville .

So Mcminn coach got a call that a player tested positive for Covid and he thought it would be okay since player wasn't with him since Wednesday..is the coach that dumb? that player was around other players and coach didn't need any contact tracing? ...and also he guesses DB got same call?..does that mean coach wasn't gonna tell DB coach about positive test?..so many wrong things here ...

Contact tracing only occurs 48 hrs before positive test. Tuesday is well out of that window. No trace needed.

Contact tracing starts from 48 hours prior to positive test which would be Wednesday and the Coach said that they did not practice Wednesday. The players last contact was Tuesday, well out of the tracing window.

Call me stupid I guess but how can you do contact tracing 48 hours prior to a positive test when you don't know it was positive until Friday..you can't tell me they do contact tracing after every test they do on any student when they don't know if it is positive or not.

THEY DO NOT TRACE UNTIL THE TEST RESULT COMES IN. THEY GO BACK 48 HRS AND QUARANTINE CLOSE CONTACTS.

They send home every student or player that has been in contact less than 6 feet and more than 15 minutes. Every time a positive result happens this is done. Since the player hasn't been in contact with anyone at school or football since Tuesday then there is no need to trace.

The coach said they got the phone call about a positive Covid player on the way to Kingsport. Yet there was a player that didn't travel with the team but came with his parents to the game with a letter in hand stating that he tested negative after testing positive. This doesn't jive. Either he got that letter somewhere on his way to Kingsport or there's more than one player in question here. Somebody's not telling the truth.
