We hadn’t had 1 problem with basketball. Same with football. You know why I know?? I have been to every Gibson County game and the same people are at every game and I thank the good Lord for that. People set with their families and spread out. Temperature checks and masks.

Just let the kids play. If it has to be watched online then so be it. These kids have literally put a life time of  practice into  playing this game at a high level. Let them play. We’ll watch however we have too. They deserve better than they’re getting at this point.

Yes I should’ve added that in there. I’m sure a lot of the schools do it right with temp checks, and no doubt GC does it right out there as well. I don’t agree with saying that the 10 limit thing and not making another mask mandate though. People are more prone to get it from going out and eating someplace else than at a High school basketball game. The kids deserve to play, and the parents and family, friends deserve to be apart of that experience

Don’t know how that works. Don’t think Gibson is set up for that. I have two accounts with NFHS.

The TCA at Gibson County game in The Gibson County Holiday classic will be video streamed on West Tennessee Sports at https://www.facebook.com/WestTennesseeS1/ . Tap the above link and then look for the LIVE button. I will go live at approximately 5:50 p.m. for the scheduled 6:00 p.m. tip off

I agree. I believe letting athletes play is a no brainer however the fans in the stands part is the issue. I wish more people were like you, I was at a game last week where players have to submit their four names for tickets and one gentlemen came that was not on the list and absolutely dog cussed the teacher at the gate, the administrator, and then the SRO before being escorted out. It was really embarrassing how some people act. Unfortunately some people say they want the students to play but are unwilling to sacrifice to make that happen.

Hope they go by percentage and not a specific number since gym size varies. Small schools will have a hard time paying officials.
Elderly probably need to stay home for a while. Cases are up but death rates are still low. If you are under 60 , very little risk of dying unless you have other morbidities. yes, there are exceptions.

As Lee said kids need to play. Even if no one can come , kids need an outlet for normalcy. TSSAA provide leadership and direction.

Tennessee has the highest coronavirus cases per capita singce Thanksgiving but the majority of y'all only care if little Jane and little Joe can play a high school basketball that only means something to them.  How selfish are y'all??

"As Tennessee leads the United States in coronavirus cases per capita following a post-Thanksgiving spike, the state’s health commissioner warned Sunday that the hospital system will crumble if residents don’t slow the spread of the virus by staying home, wearing masks and avoiding large gatherings"

“If we have another surge over Christmas, it will break our hospitals,” Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said at a news conference, according to the Tennessean.

Tennessee is averaging almost 10,000 new coronavirus cases, and almost 100 deaths, per day, according to The Washington Post’s tracker. About 45,000 people are hospitalized for covid in the state, with about 12,000 in the intensive care unit. On Saturday, Tennessee recorded a 30 percent positivity rate, a new high, according to the Tennessean.

In the weeks following Thanksgiving, daily reported cases in Tennessee doubled. A similar trajectory played out across the country, and health officials warn that Christmas gatherings could lead to an even larger surge."

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
