In early February the Jackson Sun published an article by Michael Odom entitled, "Top 5 Jackson Area High School Football Prospects Signing in The Class of 2022."  Three of those prospects play for teams in Region 7-4A:  A.J. Barham (Milan),  Anthony Brown (Milan), Jaylen Lewis (Haywood).  I hope to see some good football out of these three in 2021.

The other two players were Kaydin Pope (Hardin Co, Region 6-4A), and Ty Simpson (Westview, Region 7-2A). I hope to see some good football out of these two as well.

BPM...You told me earlier in this thread that Milan would be slow and might have difficulty fielding a team.  Then, I read the above statement in another thread.

So, Milan will have TWO prospects in the Jackson area Top 5, and the Dawgs will be bigger, faster, and stronger in 2021. You've been sandbagging me big guy!  Milan will be loaded and will definitely be the favorite to win Region 7-4A.  I hope the rest of us can compete.

I’ve watched Pope play and really see potential there.

I wouldn’t be shock. Just have to stop the trap, reverse, and jet sweeps. Make sure the safety is one-on-one with the tight end on third long situations.
On the defense, just throw the ball effectively. Run on the outside to the corners. It’ll be a long night.

Obion's JV team lost to Northside's freshmen team something like 42-0 this past season. Not sure on winnable.

I known I was just giving TryNotToSuck a hard time. Lol.

I agree. Got that one thing you can’t teach, speed. Got the ability to take it to the house every time he touches it!

Yes sir. It was fun watching him and Anthony Brown go at each other this past year. Will be good to see these two special players do it again next year. Hopefully we can see it twice!!

I just heard about it this morning. Will be hard for a new coach to come in and get wins in this region Quick success will probably not happen. The right guy will need support for the long haul in order to right that ship.

Obion and long term support have been mutually exclusive terms for decades now.

Welcome to the T! Curious question, do you happen to be from Milan? I know the people aren't happy in Milan, so I figured "GrumpyBulldog" fits well for all the Bulldogs fans in Gibson County.

Been here awhile, computer crashed and forgot my old password. Old guy, new account. Not a Milan guy, just a curmudgeonly UU grad.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
