So Rodney is the scapegoat?

Yeah. Firing a guy who is 6 games in to the job makes a lot of sense. It's all his fault.

That was sarcasm in case anybody did get that.

I don’t even know if it’s true, but if it is, I agree with you. There’s obviously more issues going on @ OR than simple play calling. There’s no reason to get rid of a coach like that during the middle of the season. That’s Jeremy Pruitt’esque stuff. Who knows even if it’s true or not at this point?

I believe it to be accurate.

Actually forgot it was the game thread while reading along.OR fans,I understand as a parent of former Dobyns Bennett athletes ,how it can get very frustrating when things are not going well .Oh, it's awesome when your team is winning in different sports and a added bonus if little " Batman " is doing well.Parent or fan, when things are going poorly it sucks all the way around. Some of you hit on a few points I would just lose my mind about back in the day. When it's all said and done, most of the blame falls on those in control of a program. It  Can be the head coach 100% or others who pull the strings keeping him from making certain moves. One of you mentioned strength and conditioning.I preached for years about that and how it definitely hurt DB's chances at a championship . Finally someone ( probably a coach or his wife) asked what my qualifications were to question such a thing and what have I ever done coaching .At first I just thought, they are right ,who am I to question because I'm not a coach, but then I wrote what I happened to remember.Well,I trained one of my sons and he broke a world benchpress record before he ever got to DB and I had my younger son doing reps with a world record before he got there and coached a son to become a state martial arts champion.I guess it was enough for them to back off.True however that I might not be a football coach but like the OR fans,I can see if changes need to be made by just looking at the results.

Who is their S&C coach? This is obviously a huge issue currently and will be moving forward.

There's not one.  This is one of the major problems.  No accountability top to bottom.  Weight room is optional.

And it is true,  the OC has been replaced.

Yep, this is a CYA move.   I have watched Rodney call plays at 2 different stops before OR.  What we are seeing on Fri. nights is not his offense at all.  Makes me wonder how much of the reins he even had when it came to offensive game plan and play calling.

How on earth do our coaches expect to field a really good team without holding kids accountable to work out? At the top programs, you either do or you don’t play, I’m sure. Just ridiculous.

This needs to be priority #1 in the off-season if we ever intend to be relevant at the state level again. So much wasted talent. At the Big city systems, the strength guy works will all sports and with the middle school kids. Could you imagine?

    • And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet, city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.
    • Sad deal. Hate it. So the coach that kicked her off is now fired??
    • Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.
