I’ll definitely let you know how I think they matchup. It might be asking a lot for them to be in basketball shape by then but as we know it’s all a pout how you’re playing in February that counts. Hampton always seems to have some great teams year in and year out. Where do all the athletes come from? lol

Also in Carter County we have 4 county high schools plus Elizabethton High School. We have lost some exceptional athletes to Elizabethton over the years for example Parker Hughes who was Mr Football for Elizabethton last year played at Hampton through Middle School. He obviously made the right choice however the point I'm trying to make is I can count on my hands the amount of transfers that we've had that have helped the program in the past 20 years. We have lost more players than we get coming in. If it wasn't for our feeder programs, we would be hurting. If you have to start teaching fundamentals by the time they reach high school then you are way behind. Sorry for typing a book here but I was just trying to explain how we get our players.

Jason Hunt has scored 46, 39, and 47 points this season and is averaging 44 pts a game.  The Humboldt transfer guard along with the Key brothers Derek and Demarkus may be the best trio in the state.  All 3 were on the All West TN team last season with all averaging over 16 pts a game last season.  This 3 headed monster will be a problem for any school regardless of the class.  Derek Kee may be one of the best athletes in the state and the scoring of Jason Hunt and Demarkus Key look for Trenton Peabody to be standing in the end when all the dust settles.

Agree 100%. They are going to be a  problem for whoever they play.

Losing Hunt & the 6’5 center, who moved to Crockett county, hurt the Vikings but that’s how it goes. Humboldt went from having a shot to no chance at all but it is basketball & anything can happen on any night!

Clay County still has the best player in the state and one of the best teams. I look for Pickett County to be there as well and it won’t surprise me if both of these teams play each other for the state championship. Humboldt always brings a good team much respect to the athletes and the coaches there. I look for Memphis to have a say in it as well.

Yea it aint even close Strong is above everybody in 1A and would be a bigger house hold name if he played in a higher classification. Hard to believe that town has produced him and the Key kid couple years back.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
