The 2021 season is over for everyone not named McKenzie and South Pittsburg. So we all can look ahead to the 2022 season. Who will be the teams that can make a run at the 2022 1A title? Out west I think McKenzie should be the favorite. Fayetteville, Lake County, Trenton Peabody and Dresden will all be very good. The east not so sure about. I suspect South Pittsburg, Gordonsville and maybe Clay County are the major players. Coalfield and Greenback are usually players. Maybe Cloudland not sure. The west will be very strong again next year.

I would say the top players in the East will be the same as this year.

We'll have a decent team but we lose too many seniors to be a title contender.

Nothing changes out west Mckenzie Fayetteville Peabody... Mckenzie and Fayetteville looks to return all their skill players but one or two. Fayetteville has had a big big lineman and I do mean this kid is huge..that moved in right before the season ended he we will be a big pickup for them.We know the east is a given. Will peabody still be in 1A? they are right on the line of returning to 2a

They will be in 1A next year but probably back up to 2A in 2023.

    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
    • 7 Pages of complaining because the lacrosse team put removable lines on the field so that they could practice/play lacrosse  Y'all boys are bored huh lol
