Certainly not happy to share that news but happy for Coach Ayers.

You can’t remove a tenured teacher just because they relinquish a coaching position, even if the teaching positions have traditionally been coaching slots. Potentially yes, but I don't hear of many schools that has teachers who coach elsewhere. Almost unheard of in Middle TN

If there are really SEVEN spots at ORHS being held by former coaches, then "potentially" you may be correct, but in reality, ORHS would be one of a kind, and that's unacceptable. bounder
No you can't remove a tenured teacher but you could re-assign them to some real crap administrative job. And maybe they'd resigned and move on. Course Oak Ridge pays so well they'd probably just stay and draw a pay check. What a mess!
froshpop
A tenured teacher assigned to an administrative position, even a crappy one, would get a pay raise. I doubt that would run anyone off.
bounder
I don't think so in Oak Ridge our teachers are pretty well paid compared to other schools in the area. Another good reason to not leave the system.

I know Coach Ayers ran the weight room at Catholic. Lots of experience to draw on from S&C coaches at UT and several NFL stops. He took several Catholic players to Florida to train over spring break with his trainer down there. What a great experience for those players. You got a great one Oak Ridge! 2
chs1984
Down this way, when someone gives up coaching, they usually end up doing PE at an elementary school. One nearby system requires coaches to be on staff at the school they coach at. In other words, you can’t teach at a middle school and be a coach at the high school. WilleTheWildcat
Follow OakRidgeWildcatFootball on Twitter. They twitted that some coaching staff news was coming. I believe the Higher Ups in Oak Ridge DO WANT A STRONG FOOTBALL PROGRAM.
