So your saying Huntingdon offense is tougher to compete with than Alcoa?

That would be an idiotic thing to say lmao. But Huntingdon offense presents different challenges and when you haven't seen something of the likes it's tough to stop. Scout team can't properly simulate it, clock moves fast, etc. Regardless of how the season finishes for the mustangs they've gotta be proud and like their chances moving forward with only 5 or 6 seniors graduating.

Both teams have improved since the first meeting earlier in the season, that's a given, but by how much will be the question. Huntingdon is playing very tough defense and is no longer a one dimensional offense. With that being said, we are far from a passing team, but it helps from having 11 in the box every play. I expect this to be a hard fought game on both sides of the ball by both teams.

I picked the Mustangs to win the 2 A championship early in the season and it's going to be close, if not so.

You gotta be the only one. Most Mustang fans I know expected this team to win 6 games and make the 2nd round, 3rd at best..

This team is super young and has overachieved all year. The improvements I've seen since week 1 have been amazing. Someone said it earlier, but I will reiterate: this has been the best coaching job Swenson has done since he's been the head coach at Huntingdon.

6 seniors on the team. Rivers, who many thought the offense was going to revolve around, goes down with blown out knee before the season starts. Levitt goes down with injury. Arguably the best defensive lineman decided before the season football wasn’t for him. A starting offensive tackle quits after the 2nd game of the season. When these things happen usually seasons fall apart. Not for this bunch. They were written off as a down season. They have decided to prove everyone wrong. Keep it going boys.

I put more on the players wanting to win and not ever thinking their out of the game more so than coaching.  I don’t think they’re overachievers they’re players that gel together.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
