Who do you want to be the new coach everybody?

How about the Betsy coach Witten?

Greeneville Coach?

Campbell County brothers?

Anderson County?

Rankin?

Raid a Private school for a coach?

I don't care who OR gets as a coach hope it's a good one. But just leave AC coach's alone. They got the Gold Ball and in pursuit of next one. I know Davey would never go anywhere but not sure about the assistant coaches. We need all of them to stay! Haha

I have read most of the posts on here about why Coach Cummings resigned. Fussy parents about coaches language and tone of that language towards players seem to be mentioned most. I don't have any idea if that was the cause. I have a different idea but if it is not correct or even close l beg forgiveness from the Coach T thought and idea police. I hope my punishment is not to harsh. This time of year seems to be a time for coaching moves of HCs, but also assistant coaches. Could have Coach Cummings gone to the administration and asked to bring in some new position coaches. I have read that the strength and skill of the O-Line was not up to par at OR for some time. Maybe Coach Cummings wanted to bring in a new strength coach, O-Line coach or other assistant coach and was told no so Coach Cummings resigned and commented the direction of the program was wrong for him. Also the privacy part might be he didn't want to mention the coach/coaches he wanted to hire as to not jeopardize the current jobs. Just a theory. But some people have commented that yelling and bad language were not the true reason he was fired.

Definitely not it. He had the guys he wanted at both positions, Kevin Day & Ron Gray, (the S&C/Oline coaches) respectfully. Day is one of the best in the biz, and the OR OL made tremendous strides this past season under Gray’s tutelage, compared to 2021.

Didn't know Day was his strength guy at OR. I think he was with Coach Cummings at West and Cleveland. Don't know about Halls. Was Gray his O-Line coach at Halls?  I think Gray was O-Line coach at Halls for coach Overton.

All things aside, I really do feel for Scott. He legitimately seemed heartbroken in that statement he wrote. But most of all, I feel for his son, who may have to eventually go to his 3rd high school in 2 years. That’s gotta be rough on a teenage kid. Praying for him and his family.

They should of promoted the defensive coach that went to HVA, he knew what OR wanted and stood for and was from there. At the time I said I would have went after a different coach than Cummings but now he is there or was there so I say stand by your man like him or not the choice has been made. The honeymoon didn't last long did it. If the OR administration didn't see the program had a boat load of injuries and the man got them to the third round of the playoffs then they simply don't give a rats arse about winning and more worried about keeping a bunch of whiney parents happy.  Folks we lived this nightmare back in 1988 at Maryville over stuff like this.

I agree with everything you have said but bringing Minor back.He was a good DC and Ive never met anybody around the Ridge that has a bad word to say about him.But we cannot go back down that road with that staff. At HV right now is almost the exact staff that was here minus Joe.We really need someone like Scott who is willing to invest in the youth and middle schools.Someone who is about year around weight lifting and knows how important it is.To me that was what had everyone happy with the hire and we need someone that knows how to do that.I think coaches like the Price twins are great coaches on the field but we have deeper needs than play calling.Scott had to takeover a complete mess and I dont think a lot of people would be happy to bring back that whole staff that left the mess minus Joe.I still wanna here some names of who was crying to admin. This secret stuff is not right and we need some answers.Joe needs to hit a home run because this isnt a great start with him as AD.

Are you saying that you heard it on the field yourself or you heard people tell you that it's true.  Big difference.  But whatever.  It's you're first time ever on an OR thread, and your screen name says it all.  so I will not be wasting any time on you.  Troll on brother.

Personally heard it. A LOT

Sticks and stones may break my bones but bad words will kill me is this new generations moto. Give me a break I held the toolbox and handed my dad what ever he needed when fixing the car when I was little so coach speak rolled off my back like water on a duck.

Someone spoke about Day being the strength coach for Cummings.  My question is does any school have a coordinated strength & conditioning program for “ALL” of the athletic programs at a school?  Example; this person would be responsible for not only football but also cross country, softball, women's basketball, baseball, wrestling, etc… and all sports were required to workout with this strength and conditioning coach.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
