Much tougher schedule this year is one thing that could hurt. I was really surprised with the season they had last year but I couldn't understand the fall off after the Sevier County game. They went down to Lenior City and and looked like a totally different team then layed down to Halls next. Keep in mind Maryville lost ten on defense so I don't see another 45-7 game this coming year. When Maryville put in their JV team the play was pretty even last year and that's who replaces those ten on defense.

I see 7 winable games. If Maryville don't come up with a qb and having to replace 10 defensive starters from a defense that got tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail against Oakland then 8 isn't an impossible.

What's the real problem @ Maryville, are there just not enough horses in the stable?     Over the past 25 years or so Maryville has been able to take average athletes and put together championship teams.   Yes, there have been some D1 athletes over the years but it's not like there are dozens every season.

Nothing coaching wise but we have had a major drought in good athletes that we once used to have. Don't know why but hopefully things will correct themselves.

I'll give them this much, their coaching staff is more visable than anyone else in the county. I see something about them every single day somewhere.

The high school coaches have really bought in to incorporating the feeder program with the high school program, too.

Ridiculous Barney.  QB question mark is irrelevant on the season.  Last year they took a transfer and tired to fit him into the offense ( which is always a mobile QB, and no offense but he was not) and they made it to THE 6A SEMIS!

No doubt alot to fill on defense but the system will prevail, JV kids on Def will step up and be good.  Only, repeat only question mark is the D-line.  Offense will be better in '23 than last year.  Alot more Juniors that will contribute than anyone has ever heard of.  Senior class is not strong but Junior class has alot of talented kids.  Very few sophmores will be called on- only 1 O-line and maybe 1 d-line, no skill players in Soph class will contribute.  And no Freshman qb's

    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
