Congratulations to the Pirates on #7.  Heck of a ballgame! Great job coaching staff getting the guys prepared all season. An excellent defensive performance today was the difference. Farrier is an absolute stud on both sides of the ball! Sp fought through a lot of adversity the last few weeks and still found a way.

Congrats to the Pirates. Deserve the championship.

McKenzie earned their way to today’s game and came up against the better team. Proud of the Rebels and wouldn’t be surprised to be watching them in this game again next year.

Congrats to yall as well.  You don't run the gauntlet like McKenzie did this year without being a good program and having top notch coaching.  Regardless of what some may think, McKenzie deserved to be there.  Looking at your roster, you've got a lot to look forward to in the coming years.

Excellent coaching job by Stone Cold and the entire staff. Great effort all season for this Pirate Squad. This team and program were on a mission this year and the bell was answered.

Everyone involved from top to bottom, I tip my cap to you, applaud you, and say what a great ride it has been this year.  I love you all.

Being crowned champions in the 100th year of Pirate football is an amazing feeling.  Let's enjoy this one for a little bit.  Let's reflect back on the season's entirety.  Let's remember those that aren't with us today, but are looking down upon us, smiling,  crying,  laughing and enjoying this right along with us. They've been with us all year.  Yeah, let's enjoy this one for a little bit.

In closing,  the South Pittsburg Pirates are your 2023 Class 1A champions.

How 'bout them Pirates!

Congratulations to SP!  That defense was as advertised and the best one we have seen this year.  Offensively, having seen all three Mr. Football finalists up close, Farrior should have been on that list hands down!  Kid is a beast. I hope Wellington is ok.  Hated to see that young man go down.  But much respect that he got to take the final snaps.
@The Drunken Sailor Good to see you again my friend.

The coin toss…I had no idea! I did mention on our broadcast about the connection.  First class!!

And for those that want to bump their gums about us not being deserving of being there.  Where was your team sitting yesterday?  I read most of these post and will comment on those posts that are in good spirit or positive about either team.  I will not get into a pissing match with some clown that hides behind a keyboard who continues to try to belittle the accomplishments of kids or programs.  That is nonsense and not worth our time.

We will see you in August! Go Rebels!

Definitely not worth your time. You guys have a heck of a team. Those boys and the McK community will never forget the 3 straight championship appearances (and going to be a handful again next year)

Both can make the run next year. It’s now time for the SP freshmen and sophomore class to shine.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
