  1. Mark is a good coach and Maryville is a very good team.As one guy always says "haters hate".

  2. I don't want to be the one who points out the obvious here but Science Hill had what appeared to be their full lineup tonight. Looks like someone found some miracle drugs and cured all those wrestlers from flu in less than two days. Amazing!!!

  3. A similar topic was created on the boys basketball forum, so I thought I would create one on the girls side as well... How does the other districts look in west Tennessee in class AAA? I am not sure of the complete district standings on the girls side, but Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill are the clear cut two best teams in District 1.

  4. Now, when more than one or two steps up to play ball, we're pretty good.... Still waiting on another one or two to decide to come with it. Hope we come to play tomorrow night night too

  5. This District is wide open. Central pulls away in the 4th quarter tonight. Thought Loudon shot terrible and got out rebounded by the Chargers. The tournament going to be very interesting.

  7. If you are referring to me as a liar you will need to come out from behind the keyboard and talk to me personally.I do not hide behind mine. The previous coach who was let go for personal conduct reasons was the one who broke the minor rule but our new coaches turned it in so it wouldnt bite us in the nakedbootleger.Liar is a strong word!

  8. That can actually become a big problem if not managed properly.

  9. The name alone will bring LA a lot of press and publicity and most private schools love that. A lot of clueless parents will think that it is so cool to send their kid to play for a super bowl winning QB. Some of those kids will be good football players and help LA. If he is smart he will hire good coordinators that understand the HS game. I am sure he has the skills to coach QBs but hopefully will be smart enough know what he is good at and what his role in the program will be. Personally I think this is a mistake for LA and they would have been better off finding a quality HS guy who understands HS football but maybe this will work out. LA certainly had to do something if they wanted to become relevant again.

  11. I've noticed if the schedule doesn't have the "D" for District Game, it doesn't tally correctly. You can send a note and the Coach T people will fix the schedule.

  12. I agree, believe very little participation will occur with the top kids.

  14. I don't have to look very hard. I grew up in West TN. My first coaching gig was in a single A school in the area. I know all about the teams in that area and the talent that is there. I've also coached in Memphis and know it too. What team has McKenzie played that is athletic? What team has McKenzie played that has decent size for a single A team? You're using teams like West Carroll, Camden, and Madison to say quality basketball. For the area, those teams might be ok but we all know that when it comes down to it they're not very good. Humboldt is your measuring stick for how good you are in single A in West TN. Mckenzie beat Trenton by 2 at Trenton. Humboldt beat Trenton by 16 at Trenton. Madison hasn't played a tough schedule. Having a bad shooting night and losing is what good teams don't do. They find a way to win regardless of the "bad shooting night"

  17. I wish them well but this has never been very successful in other states. How many good kids are really going to cut weight for this tournament. Many of the D2 state champions will have just returned from the National Preps.

  18. Last night Centennial defeated Brentwood 52-25 and Page defeated Summit 46-30. So next Tuesday Centennial will host district dual tournament with top 4 teams. Centennial vs Page Indy vs Brentwood Both winners will wrestle and both advance to Thursdays regional dual tournament.

  19. Best thing is for Greenville to promote someone from the staff and not upset the applecart. Maryville did it and won the state the very first year. Knox West should have done the same thing and you see what happened there.

  20. He bleeds GREENE. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him coaching again down the road 5-6 years from now and bring his son with him to have as an assistant coach. :) Who knows though? Whoever takes the job - no doubt 3 peat is the goal! Don’t get in the way because the GREENE TRAIN is rolling.

  21. If any of you HONESTLY believe that science hill did the right thing by not letting the kids they had wrestle, simply to “not get embarrassed” then you are making as much a mockery of our sport as SH is. How can you honestly say that jv kids shouldn’t wrestle cause they’re “just bait”. You can’t preach how much Tennessee wrestling needs to improve and how far off we are on a national level, and then say it’s ok to NOT give jv kids mat time. How are we gonna get better if we aren’t letting inexperienced kids have mat time? How are THEY gonna get better without mat time???? Y’all are acting like DB is some powerhouse that would just mangle them. Since when is DB an elite program you should be afraid of? I don’t care if it’s Baylor, Cleveland, CBHS... I don’t even care if it’s Blair or Seminary or Bergen..if you show up and you have kids who are healthy enough to wrestle..I don’t care how experienced they are.. it’s extremely disrespectful to not let them go get the mat time. It’s disrespectful to the kids cause you’re basically saying “sorry you’re not good enough to step in for one match”. It’s disrespectful to the other team who showed up and get this...ALSO wants and needs mat time. And it’s so disrespectful to the parents and fans who showed up to watch. They paid to watch the dual and then this happens. If I was a parent of one of the SH kids that was healthy and needed mat time, and my kid didn’t get to wrestle because they weren’t “experienced” enough, or because of a coaches grudge...I would be FUMING. And I’m already pretty upset at the situation. I cannot imagine how those kids and all the parents must feel.

  22. McDonalds All American nominees came out today and Tennessee had some girls nominated. Gracee Dishman from 2AA Cumberland county, Aislynn Hayes from 3AAA Riverdale, Jayla Hemingway from 3AAA Houston, Courtney Whitson 3AAA Dobbs-Bennett, Lanetta Williams 3AAA Arlington, Donita Waggoner Ensworth, Esmery Martinez Hamilton Heights. This is a big honor for these girls and I thought it needed to be known for Miss Basketball nominations.

  23. Problem throughout the state. Even traditional schools who love football have seen a decline. I know we have at TCHS! Many reasons for this. $$$, football interest waning, health concerns, rosters in decline, more for families to do, more things being offered in school (SOCIETY HAS CHANGED). Afraid the good ole days are over! GO JACKETS!
