  1. Well I was gonna ignore him but I just cant. Definition of dual. Consisting of 2 parts, elements or aspects. Definition of duel. A contest between 2 persons or parties. One can be a duel dummy by virtue of being the loser. But one can't be a dual dummy, unless they have a partner who is just as dumb as them. Which sort of dummy are you?

  2. Catholic moved to Double AA for a few years. They moved back to Single A my junior year 91/92 and old Wild Bill hated Catholic. The Saturday before we played Catholic, Coach Satterfield was on the radio show that all the area coaches would attend. The interviewer asked coach what he thought the outcome would be and Coach asked the guy " pick a number between 50 and 100" the gentleman replied and Bill said " that is how much we will beat them by". Needless to say it was one heck of a week of practice. We jumped on them 45-0 in the first half and I thought us starters wouldn't see the field in the second half. Instead he put us in, we ran it up about 20 more points, then he pulled us. My entire 4 years playing for him he never ran it up on anyone ever, except the Irish. He truly hated them and their coach.

  3. Its obvious this a hot topic with opinions on both sides, very rarely do officials cost a team a game. Th great thing about basketball as well as other sports is it teaches players as well as coaches how to handle adversity. Some nights the calls go your way and some nights they dont. Most of the good teams battle through the adversity when the calls dont go there way. Without question there are some officials that are not very good, but there are also several good ones out there as well. If you watch any college or pro games you can say the same thing. The UT Vandy game on Wednesday was a perfect example. Some say the refs cost Vandy the game with flagrant foul call late, but what about all the missed free throws and turnovers late in the game. There is always going to be heated discussion on this topic, just my 2 cents worth.

  4. Looking forward to 2019!! Springfield has to replace some key skill players. The schedule is out and we drop Gallatin and Beech, and pick up Wilson Central and Marshall County!! I'm not sure the last time Springfield played Marshall County but it's awesome to see a game between two tradition rich programs.

  5. Who are the guys that have proven their worth and will be getting a shot at being a head coach very soon? Who are the guys content with being coordinators or a position coach that really don't have any aspirations to be the head guy? Who are the guys that have previously had shots at being head coach and it just did'nt pan out, but now mean everything to the staff they are on? Who are the guys that no head coach can do without? Give me who you got and why. MOJO

  8. Looks like it's gone now. Anyone screenshot it to compare the "old" bracket versus the one that's gonna come out "tomorrow"? I dont believe the TN HS staff will object to redrawing the bracket!

  9. If this is legit, the bottom half is definitely more competitive. Centennial has to be pleased with it and Cleveland will probably ease their way to the final. Central and Arlington should be fun. With this draw I see a Cleveland/Centennial and Wilson Central/Arlington semifinals.

  10. And your right, nothing will be 100%. But if you pay attention to each wrestler, and there match ups, and weights you can get a good idea.

  11. In no particular order: A - Chloe Moore, Tess Darby, Karly Weathers Will probably come down to Moore and Darby, but their votes could split and Weathers win it as a Freshman. AA - Keeley Carter, Gracee Dishman, Braelyn Wykle Have watched all of these play and depends on everyone's definition of Miss Basketball; could see any of them get it. AAA - Jayla Hemmingway, Jada Guinn, Courtney Whitson Again, have watched all three play and depends on voter's definition of Miss Basketball.

  12. Traditionally we have always called our matches between schools "duals" but the actual definition of the word dual...is having two parts as in " Dual exhausts". Conversely the definition of the word duel is a conflict between two entities. Not saying hes right or wrong but the definition of the word duel actually seems to be more appropriate considering. I wouldnt beat him up too bad for using either of the two.

  14. "Duels"??? Can we stop calling it duels. It is a DUAL. With an A. You all want us to take A/AA seriously and you can't even get this right.

  15. Officiating is a "thankless" job. If you do a great job then you aren't noticed. If you make a bad call, you get jumped by "Little Johnny's" mom and grandma..... There are less and less officials that are willing to do it because morons in the stands lose their mind every time a call isn't made in their favor..... The officials that do work the games are mostly new to officiating b/c most sane adults get out of it because of (see above statement) Without a doubt, fans have gotten worse.....so far as to actually make personal bodily harm threats against officials.....?? Are you friggin kidding me? Over a game? Over a child's game? Let's be clear on something else. The pay is better than it used to be, but it is still not great. $60-$120 depending on the level you are officiating and if there is one or two games. This does not include the fact that officials have to drive usually well over 30 minutes to get to the game along with having to purchase all of their own apparel, gear, etc. Parents/fans need to sit back and enjoy the kids getting to "PLAY A GAME"........I repeat......."PLAY..... A..... GAME" Stop living vicariously through your children and let them chart their own path....... This is not life or death.....

  16. Pickett County travels to Clay County tonight and then Clay travels to Clarkrange on Tuesday. District tournament seedlings for the top three are now on the line. The #1 seed in the tournament avoids the other two until the championship game which is huge. If Clay wins both games they are the 1 seed if they win tonight but lose on Tuesday they finish 2nd. Should be a great atmosphere in Celina tonight!

  17. No telling how many Gold Balls Whité County would have won had the recruiting machine Ensell had at Shelbyville, been put in check. Ensell brought in everyone from inside North America to build his program to be able to win a state championship.

  18. I think Anthony Brown DC at Hillsboro is the next great Metro Nashville coach. I believe he is the coach in waiting for the Boros's (could be wrong). Also Chacorey Davis at East Lit. who won Metro assistant of the year. Just a couple that I think are bright young minds. . Zach White, Chase Howland, and Freshman Coach Colt Carver at MJ (the skinny one not the fat guy) are all going to be great head coaches one day as well.

  19. Centennial beats Indy 33-28 to win Region 7. R1- Science Hill, Tennessee High R2- Halls, Sevier Co R3- Heritage, Maryville R4- Cleveland, Bradley R5- Blackman, Tullahoma R6- Wilson Central, Beech R7- Centennial, Indy R8- Watch out for Centennial. Pelkey has this team hot at the right time and those kids are on a mission. Right now id say my favorites to podium are (in no particular order) Cleveland Arlington Wilson Central Centennial Blackman

  20. It sounds a lot like politics. Everyone wants to complain about the government, but don"t run for office! Good officials are slowly declining . How do we reverse this? It's a pretty good paying second job. How about offer referee classes to college students as one of their electives ? Maybe training Military personal as a second side job? It will never be perfect, but I believe it can be made better. Where there is money, there are people willing to take it. I do not buy this trend about people being harder on refs now then the past. My memory as a high school basketball player was more people at the game, and even more people yelling at the refs. We now have more social media to complain about it. This game of basketball is going to go on either way, good or bad refs, but as a fan I would sure like to see the best refs we can put on the floor!

  21. I plan to. Missing close calls, I get it, missing blatant obvious calls, I dont. When everybody I'm the gym, both teams fans see some of the stuff that's "missed" and you the ref thats right on top of it misses it. That's no excuse. Some of us in the stands have played and reffed. They care more about a dang headband, rolled shorts and what color pre wrap you have on your knees than they do about calling the game correctly. It's ok if you're on the ref side of this, we all have our opinions.

  22. Jada Guinn has some really nice stats for her career at Oak Ridge and should be considered for Miss Basketball in 3AAA. Gracee Dishman has had a great career at Cumberland County and I seen her play as a freshman against 3AAA Riverdale in Sub State and as a Sophomore in sub state and scored over 30 both games and then has played really well in 2AA the last two years since they went to 2AA. I think she is a front runner in 2AA Miss Basketball. I also like Chole Moore from Greenfield in1A. I saw her and Dishman play against each other in AAU this summer and they both put on a show. It was a very good game. Whitson from Dobbs-Bennett in 3AAA has very good stats and has over 2000 points and 1000 rebounds and is a very good player and fun to watch. She has had a great career there. I really like Jayla Hemingway at Houston 3AAA and seen her play AAU and is fun to watch but I don't know her stats. Cassie Monday at Clarkrange in 1A is a great player to consider for a nomination. Riverdale in 3AAA has Aislynn Hayes and ive seen her play and is a very good player but I haven't seen her stats but I know she was nominated with Dishman, Whitson, Hemingway, Williams, Waggoner for McDonalds All-American. Don't Know anything about Williams from Arlington but have seen Waggoner play at Ensworth and she can play and deserves a chance.

  23. I would agree with Utsportsfan...Justin Anderson does an incredible job at Knoxville Catholic. I mean he has tutored both Mays boys. Also Byron Tucker...(check spelling). I know he controls a lot of the run game at Knoxville Catholic. I would look for him to be next in line if and when Matthews ever steps down.

  28. Class 1A- Tess Darby, Chole Moore was there last year and there very good players and deserve to be there again. They both are very good scorers and are juniors. The Monday twins are very good player as well and deserve to be there. One is a great scorer but both are great defenders. Class 2A- Gracee Dishman was there last year and has scored over 2400 points in career and averaging 30 a game just like last year and deserves to be there again and I think shes a senior. Keeley Carter is a good choice too but I haven't heard how shes doing this year. Braelyn Wykle is another girl in east Tennessee that is averaging about 24 a game . Class 3A- Jayla Hemingway is a good choice and is having a great season and averaging 24 a game. Both Hayes girls are really good players from Murfreesboro and deserve to be on there. Courtney Whitson is from east Tennessee and is averaging 24 a game and really playing well.
