Big shout out to both Cooper Flynn and Cody Chittum for both placing at UWW Junior Nationals this past weekend. Because it is for a spot of the Junior world team, UWW Juniors is 20U and it’s only 10 weight classes, the Junior Nationals is by far toughest tournament for any HS kid to compete in. These were big brackets and the vast majority of wrestlers competing were already in college. The level of competition this year was simply incredible. Cooper Flynn from Seymour, TN competed at 57kilo in freestyle and ran an absolute gauntlet on his side of the bracket to finish 4th. It was one of the most impressive runs I’ve ever seen. Cody Chittum of Cleveland completed at 67kilos in Greco and finished 5th. Cody was coming off a leg injury sustained at TN State tournament and was only able to train for last 3 weeks, so his placement is impressive. Georgia had 3 High schoolers who AA too. Matthew Singleton of Woodward Academy won 77kilos Greco and is on the junior World Team going to Russia. Matthew also placed 7th at 79kilos in freestyle. Caleb Henson of Woodland HS placed 5th at 70kilos. Jaxson Smith also of Woodland placed 4th at 86kilos.

Great 5A show last night. You are right to have Powell ahead of Oak Ridge in District 3 5A, but Oak Ridge will win it someway.

After playing Meigs 2 years in a row I feel I could have some real input, Meigs has a coaching staff that is second to none this year l, the line will be very well coached and play disciplined football . The QB will be a year older and has great pocket awareness, he has a great since of when to tuck and and scoot ! This team will have solid recievers that have the athletism to go up and win 50/50 balls. I know Yeti has said there are some questions about who will tote the rock but with the athletes that take the field I don’t think they will lack in this area ! Everyone remember in small ball coaching is a big part of it IMO more so than 4 A and up with the huge staffs and kids galore in the halls ! I personally think we will see anotherMeigs team in the Gold ball game! GL Meigs.

Alcoa Played in the MAC conference that was established in 2019. Teams they played and dominated last year was Carter, West (I was at this game last year), Bearden (The 2nd time around), Karns, Farragut, Halls, Hardin Valley, and Gibbs. The league Turtle was talking about is the Knox Metro Youth League

Region 3 should hopefully give you guys some better games this year. You should welcome it though. Might get boring to play H20 in the qtrs 4 years in a row.

Also shout out to Nick Boykin for winning Senior Nats at 97kg. Was down 7-0 and got the pin to win it. He was the only repeat champ.

You do know you can find weight certifications on trackwrestling right? Not just a weigh in from a tourney, but the actual weight certifications.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. The whole purpose of having a National body is so that they set the standard nationwide so that it doesn’t cause issues when teams travel. PA has been pushing hard for 13 and some smaller states or states where wrestling isn’t popular have been pushing for 12. My guess is the majority of states will end up adopting the 13 weight classes.

I don’t know anyone involved with the events that you’re referring to. Man if you’ll read back I’ve not brought up a single thing about all the mess that was going on there since right after Jones was named HC except responding to you or Roy or maybe OP but I think even OP has let it go. Everyone wants to get back to football talk and I’m good with that but I think you and Roy are either enjoying all of it or you’re both allergic to reading or something. I agree it’s a new era at SP. one I’m thrilled to see start for y’all. I’m thrilled because your community and you program deserves so much better than you’ve had and I believe you have it now. I look forward to seeing what this coach can do for y’all. But make no mistake, when you or anyone else wants to quote me and throw your little jabs I will respond. If you wanna talk football I’m glad to do that to.

I'm not trying to have drama with anyone, BPM. I'm 54 and don't pursue drama. Too old to deal with it. My only point was you got on this thread which i prefer to keep football related and tried to hash out a prior issue with someone else. I tried to respectfully ask you to keep that drama on whatever thread it originated from. Please afford me that respect and keep whatever issue you have with the Oak Ridge guy on another thread. I may be a little biased, and I know we are not 5A/6A but I am very happy with our stadium here in Milan. I’m my opinion it is one of the top venues in the state.
