  1. Central football coach decision makers think they are hiring a coach for Maryville or Oakland. They need a young energetic coach who will inspire kids to stay in zone at Central. Too many of the guys they want just trying to squeeze some extra $$$ Make a decision

  2. What part do you not know abt? Is it the part that in the semis against Summit, Cleveland was only able to forfeit the last match of the dual (against Desselle mind you) because they held on for a very close decision in the next to last match. If they lose that close decision, they're faced with needing a victory against Desselle to advance to the finals. Or was it the part that Cleveland was able to forfeit 2 of the last 3 matches against BC in the finals and still secure the championship by 6?

  3. Compiling a "true" list would be impossible, but a better list than this wouldn't be too difficult. Many times deserving players are left off simply because they get "lost" on mediocre teams who receive very little press. There are some glaring omissions from this list though that have opposite circumstances. I'll give you just one... #25 from Riverside. Very likely "deserved" to be on the list as both RB and LB. If decorum says that you have to be one or the other and not both, I'm fine with that but to leave him off completely...as Bigpun54 said... comical. He didn't "get lost" on an average team, he starred on both sides of the ball for the state champs!

  4. I hate that for y'all. She is a great player. Prayers for her to make a complete recovery.

  5. I will be coaching two different tournaments with two separate groups of Pride kids this weekend. I would love to go over these “facts” you keep referencing at either of these tournaments. One will be at Cleveland on Sunday. Thank you. Cole Flowers

  6. Would be interesting if the Raiders would ever venture out from the safety of the Jones Center and make the trip to Nashville sometime

  7. Cleveland 35 Father Ryan 32 Some great matches from both programs in an impressive wrestling environment at Cleveland. Wish we all could have watched a rematch of Cordero vs Tran at 106, which would have decided the match.

  9. Keep in mind only two young men in the last five to seven years have had any sustained success at the D1 level. Brayden Palmer and Cody Chittum (granted one season but he is definitely the real deal). Trae McDaniel was just hitting his full stride when he got injured. Hunter Mason appears to be on the path to success. Mason Reiniche at Oregon seems to be having himself a pretty good year as well. I think Jackson Hurst might be the starter at 157 for UTC (well done Jackson). What I've learned is that High School success means absolutely nothing, other than a door may open. I think the vast majority, almost all to be honest, TN wrestlers would be better served going D2, D3, or NAIA if wrestling is something that is really important to them. If the goal is simply to be on the team while getting a good education then that's fine but success within wrestling in D1, as I would define it, is very rare. The next logical question is what defines success. For me, if a wrestler can crack the lineup and start plus have a five hundred or better record then they made it. I'm not going to reel off the long list of names of current TN college wrestlers who currently have a very small chance of cracking their starting lineup as things stand, have sub five hundred records, quit before they ever got started (maybe injured), or don't ever seem to get the opportunity to wrestle. As far as who I think might make an impact at the next level, have sustained success, and actually wrestle more than a handful of times per year on a D1 college team, hmmm, none. I'll believe it when I see it because D1 college wrestling is INSANELY TOUGH. I hope that statement fuels some kids (and not their parents) to prove doubters like me wrong. What I've seen in college wrestling is simply ridiculous. Excellence at the highest level. At levels below D1 I think many could be quite successful.

  10. HVA may have a tough time doing interviews for the open head football job with the AD on Admin leave. Whole school and athletic program is suffering right now

  11. What lineup do you have where Father Ryan beats Cleveland at Cleveland tonight? I always respect the fact that Coach Pat Simpson always takes the Irish down to wrestle in that hostile environment each year no matter the lineup.

  12. No way that FR takes Baylor down by 10 unless Baylor sends out the JV

  13. They wrestle at 6:00 6 o’clock Cleveland versus father Ryan I think that it’s gonna be a very close match. It’s gonna be just it just depends how they match up against each other. I I think father Ryan might win by three. It’s kind of a coin flip match.

  14. I don't know about all that, but I do know that after 12 matches Cleveland forfeited out to beat Summit in last year's state duals. Cleveland's closest matches were to the team 5 miles down the road, Bradley Central. However after last night it appears that rivalry may not be as intense as in the past.

  15. No one is catching Cleveland with their level of commitment to the K-12 wrestling program and the amount of money and resources pouring in. Hats off to everyone involved getting that program back and rolling. It’s been impressive to watch as a wrestling fan.

  16. You have to ignore these posts. It’s every week on the football boards. They make no sense. Don’t feed the guru…maybe it will go back over to the football boards.

  17. Yes there were several. The thing about it the tswa used to b good at this stuff but the last several years has been a joke. They have their darlings and are very political. Embarrassing

  18. Glad you came on here and your first 5 posts ever are to bash the kids club and Bradley wrestling program. You may be right in what you see, but what axe are you grinding?

  19. Comical is putting it lightly, this is the worst year for state awards I’ve ever seen, no way in he** these writers got out of their own areas to watch other games or even attempted to do some research. I remember when being all-state used to mean something because the writers did do their research and seemed to care about it and the kids. Gordonsville, Clay County, have 1 players combined, that’s pretty shady to me. those 2 teams were the last standing in the East with SP. Then you take the Auburn commitment from SP who made it and according to their fans wasn’t even one of their top players and all he wanted to do was fight, even got suspended for a game! Then two soph from SP don’t get me wrong they are very talented players but weren’t the best on the field from the games I watched of SP, I saw lots of Juniors and Seniors who were better just on worse teams. Award the kids for their hard work and not the ones who benefits from what school they might be playing at the next level or what Letters are on their chest. I understand it’s always going to be biased, but at least get the right players from the right teams on there.

  22. If Bearden and Farragut can be competitive in football, there is no reason why HVA can't be. Bearden and Farragut deal with the same issues that HVA does in terms of private schools getting some of their zoned students and other sports coaches frowning on "their' kids playing football. No excuses for HVA. That's just a cesspool right now. And fortunately for the students in that school, some needed changes are coming if rumors are accurate.

  23. A lot of those boys haven't played before buthad they went on to another school most still wouldn't be playing. They have unbelievable size on the line. Their best defensive player most say could start at either Maryville or Alcoa. Blount County was mostly small schools before they made a mistake and built Heritage and William Blount. Walland was the 1A state champion in 1975 before it went into Heritage and that was when there were only 3 classes. The great thing about this is getting back to our roots and enjoying small time football the way it should be.

  24. It is a grind like no other but despite any adversity that may come, it is rewarding when I see the kids pick up on the little things and apply them. There are some really good kids in Metro sports who just need people to stick with them through the tough times.
