  1. Austin Roadrunners do not have a good program right now. Austin Roadrunners are a hard sell because Austin Roadrunners will never beat Alcoa Tornado again in our lifetime. Austin Roadrunners are in a rough part of town and that complicates matters. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  2. #1) Gentile is good. But how in the world is a kid that has NEVER made the State Finals (3rd last year losing to a FC kid) so unbeatable? A realization of who Carson is?? Ha are you serious? Whats his best win? You dont think Tyson has competed against great athletes? #2) Its crazy how confident a man can become once his son taste "a little" success. You have become quite embarassing on here, knowing who you are. If that dual happens, I have a good idea who they are putting High on.

  3. Bearden beat Farragut for the 3rd time last night. They play West tomorrow. with a win or a loss, I believe they advance to region play. Coach Jeremy Parrott had them ready last night. Coach Chait, how come you only post on here when Bearden loses?

  4. You Mccallie folk are way too sensitive. You win one dual title and suddenly you are the best private team in the state the next 10 years.

  5. I will happily die on the hill of loyalty. I had no problem with that guy yesterday believing Gentle would win, it was saying Tyson had zero chance and using nasty language and dirty jokes on a forum that kids read and also prohibits that crap that fired me up. I honestly don’t care what people think, the only opinions that matter to me are God’s, my family, and my team. People like @CarlSpackler88 who know me will tell you I love wrestling and want TN to be the best wrestling state in the country. They will also tell you that I treat every wrestler with respect and nothing fires me up more than someone not giving the respect that is due to these kids. He will tell you he has seen me go to war for Cleveland kids, McCallie kids, and every other kid in our state too. We should be passionate about what we think or message boards like these would be boring. If we all agreed there would be nothing to read. That being said, there is a way to go about debating those views and a way not to go about it. I appreciate you looking out for my mental and physical health. Ha.

  6. Did any of the wrestlers from Siegel Stars get their butt kicked from Cleveland Raiders? Cleveland Raiders have the best wrestlers in the state. I guarantee it. Do you want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  7. I do not care what the Austin Roadrunners 8th grade team did to Alcoa Tornado. Alcoa Tornado will coach them up with better coaching and continue to beat Austin Roadrunners. Austin Roadrunners will never have the coaching that Alcoa Tornado has in high school. Austin Roadrunners days of beating Alcoa Tornado are over. It will never happen. I guarantee it. Watch and see. Do you want to bet me? I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.

  8. @CarlSpackler88 is a good man and Coop is a great kid and a warrior who deserves respect because he has earned it. Mattox High will NOT be “put” on anyone because of disagreement about who would win between two kids. If he earns a spot in the lineup, he will wrestle whoever McCallie sends to the line. He will also humbly respect that kid as a warrior and a wrestler because that is how he has been raised. Carl is entitled to his opinion and he is respectful in giving it, unlike other goofballs on here.

  9. This was my whole point. Lol. To say that Tyson Russell, who is a stellar athlete and great wrestler, has ZERO chance of winning that match is crazy. I think my guy wins a close one, but I definitely think the other guy could win as well. It would be a great match. What got me fired up is certain people on here disrespecting Tyson as a warrior by saying he has zero chance in that matchup. Then, to justify it, they applied these crazy standards that judge his ability, but did not apply the same standards to the other two guys. You can’t penalize Tyson for not having a win over a kid FLO ranked and not acknowledge Gentle does not either. You can’t diminish Tyson for placing at Carnahan, Knockout, and Powerade when the other kid has not traveled outside of TN. Who can’t be critical of Tyson for being a state runner-up, and then ignore the fact the other kid placed 3rd in DII. It has nothing to do with Cleveland and everything to do with giving that man the respect of at least acknowledging that he has the ability to beat Gentle, and Davis, and anyone else. Respect is earned, and that young man has earned it with what he has done. He went from being a kid who did not make the state tournament, to a kid who made the state finals, to a kid who placed high at three of the very toughest tournaments in the country. How can people ignore that and say he has ZERO chance? That is disrespect, period. I respect BOTH athletes and made that clear by saying the match could go differently than what I predicted in my pick. It is ridiculous that some other people can’t do that. Good will come out of this, because the disrespect fuels passion and growth. I just hope McCallie has another good heavy next year, because Tyson is going to take it as a personal challenge.

  10. Just MY OPINION….but anyone on here who thinks Tyson Russel has a 0% or 5% chance of beating Carson, you’ve lost your mind! Carson may beat Tyson but you definitely can’t say there is no chance or you don’t watch enough wrestling. It would be a great match 10/10 times whoever wins the majority. IMO.

  18. https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2024/feb/14/top-five-pound-for-pound-chattanooga-area-high/ Looks like this guy likes Carson over Tyson too. HA! @FrecoFanatic I love Tyson and genuinely hope he gets it done this year at the state tournament. He's turned into a great wrestler BUT he ain't beating Carson Gentle. You might even convince me that Cleveland could win every weight class against McCallie but there is zero chance they'd win that one. Not a knock on Tyson but a realization of who Carson is and the level of athlete Tyson would be up against. Hopefully we can get a matchup in January over the next several years to see some of these matchups happen.

  19. They do 11 month contracts whereas most public schools do 10 month contracts. So they spread 11 months of pay across the 12 months and normally schools spread 10 months of pay across the 12 months.

  21. Right?! What is this guy talking about Mid-State private school being on another level? DII AAA runs through Chattanooga. And it has been this way for a minute. Now, other areas of DII may run through the mid-state area. Some decent public school teams (see Pearl Cohn), but the Nashville elite private schools are getting taken to the shed by the two Chatt schools as of late. I still will never understand why a Nashville school has yet to embrace the boarding school model like Baylor and McCallie do. At Baylor only 200 kids board of the 800ish high school students. Most of those are out of state/country and around 75% of them are athletes that have excelled in their respective sport. It's not rocket science. Get kids through the doors that can play even if they aren't local. Nashville is a far more appealing draw than SE TN (Baylor and McCallie are great institutions, I'm speaking only on Chattanooga v. Nashville in terms of what the cities have to offer) and I think programs like MBA, Ensworth, BA, Lipscomb, etc. could dominate in most sports if that were to happen.

  24. ....believe what ya want......Alcoa don't need them............too much baggage. A lot of times outside players throw off team chemistry. I know what's in the Alcoa pipeline as well as anyone. We'll be better off without any outsiders.

  25. Please go and find exactly where I said that Davis beats both…. I will wait because I never did. I said Gentle beats both and that Davis beats Russell. You need to again work on your reading comprehension! You have done that before and had to say you were Wrong so go ahead and do it again because that was never said! But I’ll go back to my original statement that I don’t think Russell has any chance against Gentle. Point blank! Good luck to your Raiders in the coming weeks!

  26. Olli will be ready to go but this appears to be Gobbel’s year. They’ll have a few tricks up their sleeve for him but he’s too much for Olli right now imo. If we are picking a dark horse to win, I’m going Payne at 150. Deane has bigger gas tank but if Connor is locked-in and ready to go, he could get it done. Very dangerous wrestler

  28. So, last night was a night of pleasant surprises... We played Greeneville in the season finale last night. The injured Hannah Frye started the game for us. I was sitting there kind of perplexed wondering what was going on. Greeneville wins the opening tip and goes down and scores uncontested. We hand the ball back to the Greeneville player on the inbounds who scores again. 4-0 Greeneville. We inbound the ball to Hannah who walks down and scores. Greeneville hands the ball to her again and she scores again. 4-4. Game is stopped for recognition as Hannah reached 1,000 for her career. I had no clue when she suffered the season ending injury against Wise Central, she was that close to 1K. Classy move by Greeneville and the game officials for allowing this to happen last night. As for the game itself, we won 66-61. As the boys game is set to begin, Caroline Hill and Hannah brought me and my wife a Thank you Card and a $25 gift card signed by our eight seniors just for being supporters and for not missing a game over their tenure. I don't have a daughter on the team. We're just fans. It brought tears to our eyes that they thought of us like that. What an amazing group of young ladies. Hoping Saturday is the beginning of a long and successful post season run for these girls. Not going to lie, getting to the glass house will be a tall task with Bearden and Farragut in that same sectional. And even Sevier County being in the same region. But these girls proved a lot of folks wrong that they wouldn't win the conference after Hannah's injury.

  29. Why? It's not always about wins and losses. You have no idea how bad of shape the North Side was in before Ken Northcut arrived. He literally had to teach them how to inbound a basketball. He had to teach the meaning of the various lines on a court. It was a disaster of epic proportions before he arrived. The school system should thank their lucky stars that he took the job.Its not always about wins and losses. It is about a coach to be a good role m!odel for his teams. It's about teaching his players how to not only respect others, but respect themselves. Ken Northcut is doing GODS work at North Side. The school, and the school system in general, should feel very lucky to have Ken Northcut on staff!

  30. Wolves 2022 I want to apologize to you because I could have handled my response to your statement pertaining to me that I "never accomplished nothing" at Volunteer in a much better way. You have every right in the world to think and say whatever you want about me. I wish I hadn't responded the way I did. I will learn from this and hopefully do better. A college scholarship in sports and the GI Bill enabled me to earn two bachelor's degrees and two master's degrees. They are my greatest accomplishments. My master's degrees are in education and social work. I had the opportunity to earn those degrees (in total it took me 9 years) and financially everything was paid for, so I was debt free in terms of my college work. My motivation in my work was to help and enhance people to do their best, not criticize others. You said that "you would wager any amount I have (meaning me) that coaches such as Buck, Dickie, Bobby, Charlie and George would never get on this post and brag their accomplishments. Only me!" You probably make a good point, and I never disputed your statement. I knew each of these individuals and had respect for each on them. I coached against "Dickie, Charlie, Bobby, and George" and each had tremendous success. I am happy when other people are successful because I am not a jealous person. I had a particularly good relationship with Dickie Warren. I miss him. I am not from this area and I felt I was treated as an outsider at times. I didn't try to emulate any local coach. I carved out my own niche and always did it my way. Sometimes there might have been consequences for that.I was never worried about my job because I was financially secure from the beginning of my career. In coaching I just wanted my team to win and I didn't care what anyone thought about the way I went about it. If I wasn't happy where I was I figured there was always another job. It worked out for me. You said that you would wager any amount I have { meaning me } that Buck, Dickie, Charlie, Bobby, and George would never brag about their accomplishments. I think that is a wonderful endorsement of each of these fine coaches and people. As for me I don't ever remember caring what they thought. I was too involved with my team Each of us are different as individuals and I did it my way. I have always been secure with myself,I never tried to please people like you or anyone else. I just wanted my team to win. Please be advised that I won't allow you to wager my money, I happen to be a multi, multi, multi, millionaire because my wife is from the John Deere family. She gives me a very generous allowance and I get to do whatever I want, Wager your own money and don't think about wagering mine, That ain't going to happen, In all my posts I never said once I was a better player or coach than anyone. I am not an expert on anything until I am at least 2,000 miles away from my bride. I have been married almost 55 years. You might think about that strategy. As Coach Knight once said, " When my time on earth is done, and all my activities have come to pass, I want they bury me upside down, and my critics can Kiss My ####." WaCo- you are the best.Keep up the great work. The asylum always needs your erudite comments.

  32. Actually, I mentioned Sevier and he came on to talk about his time there. I went back and read his post again to see if I missed something that brought on this backlash from two obvious losers. Nope, I read it right the first time. He was simply saying you can accomplish a lot if you are committed and work hard. He told the story from first-hand experience. Also, what is bragging? Is it bragging if it's all true? Or do you call it bragging when you know you could never come close to even a fraction of those accomplishments. Quitters and losers are always offended by someone they see as a bragger. Funny how that is.
