The rebs win this easily. USA Today game of the week, what a joke. Why don't they live feed practice at Maryville this week and they will see better competition then what Powell will give them Friday. Maryville scout team will run Powell's offense and defense better than they do. Powell is 3-0 against super midget teams right now. GQ won't run it up however, so I will say the Rebs 42-7. Could be much worse.

Maryvilly will not look past Powell. They are Region 3-4A and this is a big game. Most years Maryville plays Powell in the play-offs as well. What I noticed in the stats from last week Powell beat Karns with balance. The had 156 yards on the ground and 156 yds from the Air. Balance wins games. Powell also did not turn the ball over. Powell did have allot of penalities 17 for 96 yds! That is a lack of dicipline.

Anyone know how the Maryville players injured last week are doing? Some of these players are keys to the Maryville attack.

I read in an article about Maryville's new school they had over 1600 students. Transfers, Tuition Students, 400 students more than the rest of the region! Heck they should dominate.

Anyway back to the game. Powell hasn't seen anything like they will see Friday Night. This Maryville team, barring injury may be the best team in several years. They have a fantastic Q.B., several competent receivers, and a solid running game. Defensively they are very tough as well. I predict Maryville will run the table with ease, there closest game being William Blount but still no contest.

Powell is just another bump in the road for the mighty Rebels.

Been very impressed by Powell in the first three games even though the competition was a little suspect. I think Kier Houston at QB is a player and the players seem to be enjoying themselves. Powell at the moment at 3-0 is getting votes and look to be 12th in 4A. How Houston handles this offense friday night will show how well Powell will do this year. The defense will have its work cut out for them with Burnette and all his weapons. I fall into the category that Maryville will roll but a lot could be learned from this game if Lowe just keeps things in perspective.

This young team will be a factor very soon against the giants.

Hadn't heard it was up to 1600. I found a website that has Central with over 14 hundred students and West is approaching 1500. In any event your blanket number of 400+ over the entire region appears a tad high?

"Anyway back to the game". Don't know what games you have seen but Maryville is struggling with their running game so far. Much of the yardage they are getting (around 90 yards a game) are from subs in mop up duty. Also all three linebackers from last year are gone and the middle is a little suspect on the defensive side.

The passing game is outstanding as you said, but a team that likes to be 50/50 running and passing is throwing it around 75% of the time at this point. This team has a long way to go to be nearly as all around good as the three previous teams.

On top of that Steven Shiver is injured and will likely not play this week (and he goes both ways) and Aaron Douglas is nursing a shoulder injury as well. I don't think they will overlook Powell, but I certainly don't see a 63-9 blowout either.
