Now is your one and only chance to convince me, and several other voters who will be reading this, who the Mr. Football Lineman, Back, and Kicker should be:

As you may already know, the Mr. Football Awards are being sponsored by Nancy and Bud Adams through their donation from the Tennessee Titans Foundation. We appreciate their support, which helps make this event possible.

Forty-five outstanding individuals and their schools are to be recognized along with their parents and coaches at the prestigious Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Luncheon, scheduled Monday, December 1 for the first time at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in Murfreesboro.

This group is to include three finalists for Mr. Football Lineman of the Year and three finalists for Mr. Football Back of the Year in each classification. There will be three finalists, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. They are to be selected via a vote of football coaches and selected members of the media. The winners of the coveted award are to receive the distinguished Mr. Football trophy with the others finalists being presented plaques.

Each of the designated media outlets, of which you are one, is asked to submit the name of up to three players in each classification for the Mr. Football Lineman of the Year Award and the Mr. Football Back of the Year Award. You are also asked to submit three players, regardless of classification, for the Mr. Football Kicker of the Year award. It is not necessary to vote for three players in each category, but that is your option. If you feel an individual player is one of the top three players in both categories, then you may list him in both.

In order for your ballot to be counted, it must be received in our office via mail or fax (1-615-889-0544) no later than MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3. Please help honor Tennessee's finest by responding today.

I must return the ballot by November 3rd.

Negative remarks will do nothing to help your candidate!

Chaz Scales- Centennial High School QB

set the Centennial single season touchdown record of 21 (surpassing Curtis Steele's 17 who is currently the starting running back for Memphis) (oh and Chaz did it through 8 games and is still going)

816 yards passing, 728 yards rushing so thats 1544 yards of total offense, 10 passing TDs, 10 rushing TDs, I believe the other is on a kick return, maybe a pick-six, I'm not sure.

Currently has Centennial on a 6-game win streak, longest in school history.

First time Centennial has ever been 6-2.

Big wins over Independence, Siegel, and Ravenwood.

Could be the first 1000/1000 (pass yards/rush yards) in school history.

Win this week gives Centennial the 3rd spot in the playoffs for the first time in school history. Win over Franklin in two weeks will give them the 2nd spot and a shot at a split region-title with Brentwood and if Brentwood loses to Indy and Centennial wins out, Centennial will have the title all to themselves.

All of this is large part in thanks to Chaz Scales.

Tausean Holmes of Millington. Has 54 carries for 933 yds (17.3) and 16 TD. Has 5 receptions for 229 yds (45.8) and 5 TD. Has returned 4 kicks for 159 yds (39.8) and 4 punts for 114 yds (25.5) and 1 TD. He has also picked one pass off for 44 yds.

Tausean has "touched" the ball 68 times for a total of 1,479 yds and 22 TD's. He is averaging almost 22 yds everytime he touches the ball. He has accomplished this by only playing 1 full game,3 quarters in 2 others, 1 half in 4 others and 1 quarter in 1 game. It equals out to being not even 5 full games. As a junior last year he was on the Millington team that was 13-1 and advanced to the 5A seminfinals and Millington is currently 8-0 and the number 3 team in the state in the 5A AP poll.

Kicker-Matt Baltensperger-Millington. 6 out of 7 on FG with a long of 46. He is 35 of 36 on XP and is putting the majority of his kickoffs inside the 10 yd line if not into the end zone.

I am probably a bit biased, but kicker should be Yoder from Smyrna this guy is the real deal. EVERY full kickoff in neutral wind has resulted in a touchback including a few that went through the uprights. He is a phenomenal punter as well has has 45 yard range on his field goals. If this is not enough, he picked up a horrible snap on an extra point Friday night against LaVergne and ran it in through eight tacklers for the 2 point conversion. If 5A kicker should go to the best all around kicker/punter/athlete Yoder is definitely the best.

We all know that football is a team sport but someone has to receive the awards. No one has meant more to his team than

CHAZ SCALES

This young man has taken the Cougars and carried them on his back. He runs the show. He has one amazing game after the other. I'm no Centennial fan by any means but this kid is the real deal. The stats do not lie either. He should have an opportunity for 1,000 yards both rushing and passing with two regular season games left. He also plays the entire game both ways as he is a starting cornerback as well as the quarterback. The young man has accounted for over 20 TDs and won't stop there. The true test comes on Halloween against Franklin. If he performs as well against them as he has the other region foes then putting him on the ballot is a must. This game takes place right before your ballot has to be determined. Get your pen ready and let Scales write himself in earning it all the way.

Thanks for the consideration, Coach T and any others with a Mr. Football ballot. I plan to update after each of the remaining games.

I would like to add one more player for consideration:

Franklin High has two that could be on the ballot

RB Alex Ford

115 carries - 916 yards (8 yards per carry) 14 rushing touchdowns

19 receptions - 226 yards (12 yard per reception) 2 receiving touchdowns

Not to mention that he splits carries with Keylo Lee who has 85 carries for 645 yards and 21 receptions for 231 yards and 5 rushing TDs and 1 receiving TD

QB Graham Nichols

86 completions - 135 attempts - only 2 interceptions - 1,333 passing yards (63.7% completion rate)

9 Passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs

Both have helped lead Franklin to a 7 - 1 start, are playoff bound, and Franklin should finish 2 or 3 in region 6 5A

Sanchez Holder from Gallatin. Averaging 9.4 yards a carry. Just broke the 1000 yard mark with 1012 yards. Starts on defense at corner and returns kickoffs. The kid is out there almost the entire game.

Price Walker , offensive tackle. 6-3 365lbs. Opens running lanes for Holder and Matthews. Helping offense avg 32 points a game. Good kid.
