Nick Bryant got the nod as the new head coach for Grundy Co. Thursday morning. Nick and the program will need all the support possible from the community. No matter who you supported for the job if you really care about Yellow Jacket football you will now get behind Nick and whoever he names for his staff and try to help them be successful.

My issues in this mess have never been with Nick. I do believe Tommy deserved his shot first but as I stated earlier there were good reasons to hire any one of the three local coaches. Obviously Nick's reasons carried the most weight. But since my issues have never been with Nick I won't have any trouble supporting him.

I've already set up an interview with Nick for next week's paper.

Congratulations Nick.

DL.

Good luck coach, If we can help you in any way let us know! Good luck to GC in the fall.

ELA, how have you been? It has been a long time since I have seen you around. What are you doing now? I don't know if you remember me, I think I was at Red Bank and you were at East Ridge the last time we communicated. Hope you are doing alright.

Hey Possum... I'm at FCHS now in Winchester. I moved back to TN last April and we are back in TN to stay...

I asked this in the other post and thought I would try again here. I would assume that Nick would call the Offense. If so who is going to be his Defensive Coordinator and who is going to do the O Line. Sounds like he might have some good young coaches around him but these are important positions where it helps to have an experienced coach! Maybe Del can ask in his interview and give us some answers. What about the other inside candidates could they fill some of these positions or will they even be asked.

Again Congratulations to the new coach and best of luck Grundy.

    • Honestly the A.D. may be powerless at Maryville to some degree versus other schools. I know he has his hands full with GoFan and all the stupid surprises just from the emails he sends out during the season.
    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
