Maryville vs. Dobyns-Bennett TSSAA 6A Quarterfinals

Will the difference in East TN football compared to NE TN football show up in this game? i think that Murvil will win is for one they are Murvil and it's at home and they have been in this situation many times. Another reason is i think Murvil has played the much tougher schedule all year long. Should be a good one. Good luck to both teams, and i hope nobody gets hurt.

 

I think Maryville has played a much tougher schedule. DB has tried to schedule as tough a schedule as they can with non-conference games, but TSSAA has done them no favors with the current alignment. I believe the Science Hill game and last weeks Sevier County game have been huge in getting DB ready to play this game. They have been tested and challenged. The kids responded when they had to win those games. Friday will be the biggest challenge of their season.

 

Home field advantage is huge in this game. Maryville deserves it. All roads to a state championship should run through Maryville. It just stinks to give them another advantage in the game.

RR, Foreman just looks very calm and confident back there to me, kinda of like he is just sliding around, then a move or two and before you know it, he has run for 15 yards. Reminds me of what Burton did for WS. I think Maryville will be prepared to shut him down on called runs, but where I think he could hurt Maryville, is dropping back to pass, then scrambling.

 

I think the pressure is on D-B, because their O will have to score on every possession, because I don't see their defense stopping Maryville. I think Maryville's defense stands a lot better chance of getting some stops than the D-B defense does. If Maryville doesn't come out and do something strange, such as turn it over three or four times, I think they will win this one.

 

 

You are right on. Watching the you tube video's Burton is way more dangerous on busted plays.

To me Nick Myers has been the biggest Surprise for Maryville this year . Nick has become a very steady , dependable QB and has shown great composure whenever he has been pressured . He has gotten bigger , stronger and more accurate throwing the ball from last yr . Nick also brings a toughness that wasn't there last year , he doesn't shy away from Contact anymore , I've even seen him take off and Flatten people blocking after pitching the ball this year . Yes , Maryville has several Playmakers on Offense and Defense but we wouldn't be where we are right now ( undefeated ) without Nick's Steady QB play .

True...It all starts in the trenches, STARS. If you can't beat Maryville @ the point of attack, you're pretty much not gonna beat them. Like most every game, whoever wins the battle in the trenches will win this one. DB can't get any pressure on Myers it's gonna be a long night for KP.

I was stating that being challenged by a quality offensive team and with the starters playing all 4 quarters against a good team is a good way to get prepared for the playoffs. That Science Hill team may have rode the back of one player, but he was pretty darn good. They gave Oak Ridge all that they wanted, but didn't have the horses to pull off the upset.

 

Maryville should be the favorite. I am not over-confident in a DB victory, but I believe that they have a puncher's chance to win this game. The breaks need to bounce their way. You never know how they will bounce. I am confident that this DB team will come down and give it their best shot. I know they respect Maryville deeply and are excited to have the chance to play them, but I doubt they will be intimidated by them.

SH QB sure was hard to contain. Guy is/was a dang good HS QB.

If DB holds Maryville to 28, i'll be shocked. More power to them if they do, though. DB needs to have a very effective run game and chew up the clock bigtime like OR did against Murvil in the 3rd qtr last friday night. Murvil's offense can score in a hurry if they don't. DB needs sustained drives.
