Note: Hollow Rock-Bruceton could be a candidate for Region 5, but I kept it in Region 7 due to its close proximity to other schools in that region.

After about 2 1/2 hours of careful deliberation, this is what I got. I'm not sure if the TSSAA will go for 9-team districts, but there are three here because of very long distances between some of these schools. All of 1A is a complete mess, with way too many in West TN and Southwest Middle TN and too few in far East TN. Concord Christian and Moore County could fit in other regions. I wasn't sure what to do with West and Middle TN in 2A, so I made an educated guesstimate. Regions 2-6 in 3A may be a tad off in places, and the same for Regions 3-6 in 4A. I'm not too confident with 5A. When Gibbs moved up, it left South Doyle as an outlier that didn't fit with the other schools without overloading the region. But, I moved Gibbs east and let South Doyle stay because Gibbs is already a little northeast of Knoxville (TSSAA may do the opposite). I also had several problems placing Regions 4-6 in 5A. The 5A schools in the middle of the state are grouped in Sumner, Davidson, NW Rutherford, Williamson, and Maury, but also include the outliers White (which is way out by itself), Franklin, Lincoln, and Shelbyville. Those three regions were tricky. Lastly, my 6A projection is the same as every other one I've seen. Bradley Central gets to drive hundreds of miles to the Johnson City area, Wilson County schools play Nashville teams and Franklin, and the Rutherford County powerhouses get to run over the usually embarrassing teams of Coffee and Warren, as well as Cookeville.

That region 8 looks like a bunch of teams I have never heard of. Region 1 has only 5 teams listed. That means you can go 1-9 and make the playoffs? LMBO, they should have just left this thing like it has been.

They could put Oneida in Region 1 to balance it out some.

This is posted by the TSSAA.

For the purposes of Division I Football Classification, the following schools have notified the state office they wish to move up:

Class 2A to 3A
Alcoa High School
Goodpasture Christian School

Class 3A to 4A
Memphis East High School
Lipscomb Academy

Class 4A to 5A
Clinton High School
Gibbs High School
Kirby High School

Class 5A to 6A
Maryville High School

With Maryville High School requesting to move up to Class 6A, LaVergne High School agreed to be moved to Class 5A.  The 2015-16 Division I Football Classifications can be found here.

Whats funny is GB could move in your region and all games would be closer than region 1.Thats how screwed up this is!

Screwed up is putting it mildly. If this plays out, here's Greenback's travel requirements:

Unaka: 150 miles, 2 hours 36 minutes

Cloudland: 161 miles, 2 hours 49 minutes

Hancock County: 112 miles, 2 hours 10 minutes

Jellico: (the closest!) 89 miles, 1 hour 33 minutes

Double all those numbers for a round-trip and you start seeing just how totally nuts this is.

Maybe we should elect to move up to 3A?

Anyone that was paying attention knew something like this was coming, you just can't have 3 teams in a region,it won't surprise me to see Oneida in region 1 also. Without one of the 2 or both ,this could be the weakest region known to mankind.

However, Pujo.....without either of us.....Hampton would be living large!  I don't know what the evil geniuses in Nashville are going to do with this but you can't see a promising gate when Single A teams are traveling great distances to play a district game. (at least I can't)  I don't see a good solution here, but it sounds strange that all of ones district road games will easily surpass the milage of your non-district schedule.  We are a stones throw from Sunbright, Coalfield, Oakdale, Wartburg, and Jellico (all are within an hour of travel).  I would even think Rockwood and GB aren't but about an hour and 45 minutes.  When does logic kick in with district alignment?  We have managed one long road trip a year for the past 4 with trips to Hampton and Watertown....even made a playoff trip up there.  If we could just build a straight road up to there I'd jump.....as it is we have to travel South to travel North to meet you guys (you do too).  Wonder what the next board of control meeting does in the future?  We don't anxiously await....

We will be in 2a and our games will be fine. The 1a region is the one in a mess. Hampton and Cosby both missed the cutoff by 6 students, it would make more sense to just up 1a a few students and save alot of trouble. Its fine with me anyway, I like our new proposed region.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
