Why doesn't maryville play other states top teams?

Battle Ground Academy

Really? Well Ronnie3 why didn't you say so? Congratz on that 47-0 beat down ya'll put on Goodpasture last week. Their 2014 schedule indicates they were 0-10 last year. Certainly indicates what makes you an expert on "softies".

Wow, what a piece of work you are.

Yes they are, but all you have to do is look in the student parking lot at Maryville and see the out of county license plates. The problem is there in no enforcement anymore. Thats one reason why the TSSAA wants the division.

I don't come here often but after reading this guy's posts I have to say that he has definitely had his Jimmies Rustled!!

Hey Wad82... why dont you come over to 825 Lawrence Ave sometime Friday, I am off and would love to give you a tour of the parking lot. Your envy shows so much. You obviously dont know your head from your A $ $. Row 19 seats ABCD on any home game night at the Blackhole. âš¡

I understand your points. If you listen to the argument about open zones you would think people are moving from all over to Maryville and that they are like an ING in Florida.

Since I have been on this board they have beaten a lot of teams that if you look on paper most people would think they shouldn't be in the game. Yes they have good players but in my opinion it boils down to the fact that they execute better and most of the time at the high school level that is due to kids playing together for some time and coaching:

A great example is what CPA did to Peachtrre Ridge in Georgia. PTR has 10 3-5 star athletes on that team. I was at the game. CPA executed really well and they made very few mistakes .

They reminded me of Maryville in a way. Another example is ING in Florida . They lost this past week to a regular ole high school in Florida. Google rivals and type in ING. Every player is 4-5 star. Their roster will shock you . Yet they lost. How does this happen with an allstar team ?

I am a fan of the Maryville program because they focus on education- send kids to great schools - and the coaching staff is as top notch as any in the country. if there is any program in TN who could puff out their chest and say look at me it would be them - but you never see that. And for me at least that's what it's all about.

They have had a lot of success against teams who have many more top players on their squad mostly because they have many kids who have played together for a while - they have great coaching

[/quoteWell I have to disagree a little on this point. The players often don't get the credit they deserve at Maryville. Sure when you play a few schools they may have 2 or 3 high level d-1 guys and beat them with 1 or 0 big time players it's easy to say Maryville "out coached them". But it's a rare thing when a school sends out 22 players better than the 22 Maryville puts out there. Coaches are very solid but 90 +% of the wins come because of better overall players.

I have been saying for years that you only need four (4) classifications for football in Tennessee.

1A Small public schools and no private or magnet schools

2A Public schools, small non financial aid giving private schools & magnet schools

3A Public schools, private schools & magnet schools

4A Public schools large financial aid giving private schools & large magnet schools

I looked at these, thought 5 might fit better with 343 teams. I added a few private schools to the smallest group to help even out the numbers. * is non-aid, ** is aid. I could live with this system, if there's not a complete split then the largest schools ought to be in there with Ensworth, etc.
