Depends on who you talk to. Admittedly I am 300 miles removed, but there have been a couple of years I've thought the talent was there in what I did see.

I just don't think you can run a simple wing t and a base cover 3 defense and beat the good Memphis or middle tn teams in November. The step up in competition is too great.

Had we of not fumbled 4 times (2 times going into the endzone inside the 5 yard line), we would have beat Memphis Trezevant in the 4th round at their place.  Take just one of those fumbles going in away and we are playing Greenville for the gold ball.  Everyone would then be singing the praises of the wing T.  A lot of analysis goes into Some of these posts.  In a lot of cases, its as simple as execution.  Our offense  has had its flaws on balance of pass and run, but it has had its successes too.

BTW, Lexington wins 24-21.

Saw SGC in the spring...haven't been annoyed by Lexington teenagers in years, however, I'll take old school Lexington in this one. SGC has a nice program but seem to be lacking playmakers and studs...as far as beating usj in a scrimmage, I don't generally count scores from 2nd teams, those kids don't play for a reason

What makes Lexington so good is that everyone knows what is coming, and the tigers still win...so good on them

Y'all were also 2 plays from not making the playoffs last year.

You are bringing up a game from 2012 as evidence it works?

13 they should have beaten white house but couldn't move the ball once they shut down the trap, off tackle and spied Tylan because they knew there was no passing game.

14 was a down year and probably nothing could be done

15 was a likely loss but no passing game to attempt comeback

16 was a, I believe, 14 to 0 lead before east adjusted to shut the running game down entirely.

I wish the boys and team the best. I've hoped to get the 4a/6a double header for several years. Just voicing my thoughts on a message board. Pretty sure the staff knows my thoughts and if they care one iota it's not good. Do what they think is best.

You are spot on Solomon. The shame of it is that there has consistently been talent there enough in most of those years, and aplenty in some, to have had a dynamic and balanced offense. Stu Jones was a stud option QB, but was actually very good when they let him throw...same for Tylon too. I'm old school...if you can run and play defense you can win, but you can't just say "here's what I do, try and stop me" to everyone, because someone will match up with your strength and leave you no option but change what you do or lose. White House did that and beat them with an inferior team because Lexington was as lost as last years Easter Egg when they couldn't produce first downs.

This year's edition has some tools to work with, if they'll take 'em out of the toolbox.

Not taking sides here, but the Lexington posters were admittedly kids. The lone Tiger supporter who was respectful and sensible (forgive me if I've forgotten someone) was allstatekicker, and he has continued posting.

For the argument of going 2 or 3 rounds deep in the playoffs every year, any teams not named Maryville or Alcoa should accept that without shame. Sustained success isn't an accident, and (no offense) SGC hasn't figured out how to do that just yet. I gave an honest assessment of Lexington as I saw them, and admittedly have no knowledge of this years Hornets at all...the reason I said that Lexington probably wins is the same as BPM's thinking, that until something changes, you should expect the norm.

thanks for the kind words. i changed the username late last year. As for going 2 or 3 rounds deep in the playoffs is not upsetting to us. I'll take that every year. Of course we would like to bring a gold ball home, but its not an easy task.

I don't know anything about South Gibson so i won't make any predictions. I know that in recent years they have started their seasons with nice winning streaks. If they can pass the ball they could give us fits. I was not impressed with our secondary in the jamboree against Adamsville.  Now i don't think they will be able to run it down our throats. Our quarterback is very quick and shifty. I haven't got to see if he could pass the ball, because lets face it that's not what we do ha. We lost some key players last year. This game should give me a good idea of where we stand. Good luck to both teams and GO TIGERS!!!

In a perfect world you line up in the T or power I and say stop me. But it ain't perfect.

You can beat inferior teams consistently being basic and relying on talent, but at some point you have to have page 2 and 3 to the playbook that the kids know and can run if needed.

    • When she starts farting around with the football team the powers in Maryville will run her out of town on a rail and everyone connected with letting her in the door. You saw what happened when Alcoa's radio announcer thought he was coming to Maryville, the people rose up and stopped it.
    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
    • I've heard Powell from someone who talked to him. I saw the kid two days ago and I should of pulled over and talked with him and wished him well where ever he goes. It will be a ale of a loss for us because I don't believe we have anyone in the stable good as him from what I seen in the spring.
    • I would have to think that the firing of the 2 teachers is just the beginning of future moves.  If not, it is woefully short.  If the AC school board thinks that the damage is just limited to Clinton, they are sadly mistaken.  Any outsider would view the whole school system as suspect, and rightly so.
