I thought the vanilla play calling hurt Huntingdon the most. Too many athletes to not open it up more. They ran the same direct snap/power play 85% of the time.

That's what Huntingdon has always done. This season was the year that they opened up the playbook though...all season they have called a better offense than in years past, only to "revert back" to what they have done before in the playoffs. Not disrespecting Cornersville at all, but the 'Stangs were a much better team in week 5 than for the last two or three weeks. I'll have to agree with most H-town fans (and a few others) that they have had the team to have won state on more than one occasion. Best team doesn't always win, but they should some of the time.

Congratulations Cornersville.  I think y’all have a good chance to make it all the way.  All the Cornersville fans I met where extremely nice.  Great atmosphere!  More people at the game than I was expecting.  Good luck the rest of the year.  Sum1uno sorry I got there later than I was expecting.  The traffic was bad!

No problem buddy. I spoke to a few last night as they was leaving the game. All but one was very gracious and wished us luck. Y'all have some great fans and a very good ball team. I know that was going to be a tough pill to swallow for either team that lost once it went to OT. I was proud and happy for our bunch but seeing some of y'alls players after the PAT heartbroken kinda took the joy away. I did feel bad for those kids. But it was what I had hoped for. A good clean hard hitting grind it out game. Maybe we can do it again next year at your place. Hope everyone made it home safely and thanks for the crowd y'all brought. Made a great atmosphere for the game.

“beast in the East”

I had to read all these posts all week long about how we were going to get mercy ruled. If we have the opportunity to make it to the finals, I’m confident we’ll be ready. Cornersville football put themselves on the map tonight. Everybody counted us out because we don’t have the history that these other programs have. We obviously proved that doesn’t matter tonight. The rest of 1A got put on notice tonight.

You should be neighbors to the Huntingdon fans. They’re even more annoying. No one gave Dresden a shot either but we blew every team out last year including the “beasts” East teams in the State Championship game. I kinda like Cornersville or Lake County’s champs. Nice to see teams make it that have everyone asking “where’s *****?” Make a name for your town.

First time I've ever been beaten by a team that never drove the ball inside our 20 ! Congrats Cville is a very hard nosed hard hitting team. Great defense. It took a great defense from y'all and the stripes to shut the Mustangs down. Not quite as bad as Nashville Christian last year but close.

Accept the loss. Hate seeing posters partially blaming the refs when they lose. Y’all missed 2 extra points as well.

the dawgs put lots of mustard on their standard fare...corndogs naturally    they are very hard headed, could probably play without helmets without misssing a beat   maybe I can attend the next one...always fun over there

Hardest the Mustangs have been hit all year. Cornersville knocked our jock straps off! I imagine the Bulldogs would say the same. If you like physical hard nosed football and weren't in the stands for this game you missed the boat. I want a rematch!

The bad thing about playoffs is that there will always be some seniors playing the last game of their lives.

    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
