I was very surprised- I thought Hopkins would win it. I read an article about it and even the player who won it said he was surprised and thought Hopkins would win it.

I can't help but think that Dylan basically was punished for being on such a successful team ... most games Dylan didn't even have to play in the second Half .... There's no way Maryville would be playing for the State Championship without Dylan Hopkins . I guess a State Title would be much more rewarding anyway .

Thats exactly what happened. Its been going on for more than a decade. Maryville players are often left off of allstate teams etc.

Much of it is also determined by the regional bias' of those on the selection committee.  Don't have any idea who was on the committee that selected the 6A winner this year, but that does play a part, be it intentional or unintentional.

No disrespect in regards to Mr Hopkins, but how about the fact that the Kicker from Oakland (rated as one of the best in the country) who just happens to hold the new state record for consecutive PAT's was not selected as Mr Football  kicker.  More consecutive PAT's than any kicker in the history of the state??????? Really????

Totally agree; I noticed that too. Thought Sears would be obvious choice.

Never liked singling out players for a team sport.    Something like Boxing, sure, you have a single individual who is the best.     But team sports are all about the team.      Selecting individuals just does not seem to mesh with the team concept.

I know most of you don't feel this way so go ahead and have a Blazer roast in response.....
