Actually, no I was not one of those interviewing him but I spoke with someone who did sit in on the interview and if you would have heard what he had to say, you would have said no thanks as well. The city of Kingsport interviewed several people and was turned down several times.  A former player at DB basically called out the administration and told them that they needed to stay in house and that’s what they did. We will see what happens at the conclusion of this season but everyone might as well get behind with who we have now because bashing the staff this early in the season is a little premature. And with those saying we have talent on this team, your wrong, because we do not have the talent we’ve had in years past. Particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

I agree with parts.Lot of good guys and coaches have came and gone .Several are still there and this is what the boys have .Might as well give it a chance if you like it or not at this point. You hit on one of the problems and I understand both sides of that.Still  a good ole boy problem.I dont care who you would have coaching,it will take getting the kids interested again and excited to come and play .No doubt a total  change in a few areas will have  to be made and that takes time. You cant take a shetshow weight program and do wonders. It will take the right strength coach a couple years from the ground up to be where they need to be.If he is already there,we will see.Right now it's a cluster and the worst thing is to start running off more players when there are always a bunch at DB who already won't play.

I understand Kingsport is very proud of their band and I'm sure there are people that come to the games for that alone but how bad will attendance drop off during the year if this losing slide continues. As I'm seeing it right now this will be one of the worst years in DB history and it comes at the heels of a decision made by insiders there. Would seeing the gate money diminish not wake a few people up or will they seriously keep driving down one way street if this season ended in a catastrophe. I totally understand the pain some of the fans are going through because we experienced the same mess in Maryville back in the late 80's until the mid 90's.

I really think the Tribe will finish 5-5, there are some winnable games coming up.    DB just lost to 2 teams who are going to stomp most of their opponents this year, it's  not like they are getting beat by Sisters of the Twisted Poor High School....    Now that being said, if it turns into a 2-8 type of season then how will that hurt attendance?     Really hard to say because a lot of people are going to come regardless and that is due to the fact that they do not care about football anyway.    We have the same thing at Boone, I walk around all the time and talk to the students, half of them do not even know what a 1st down is but they just like to congregate and hang out.     I had no idea Maryville went thru this type of thing, well whatever happened they certainly turned it around.

This I can tell you.......Attendance at games will have no effect on making changes. They'll double down. For those who want to compare previous problems at Oak Ridge and Maryville to the DB situation. DB's problems my be similar but it's like those problems on steroids. I don't even remember Maryville having problems.

Actually it was pretty big to Barney, that's why he stays on his toes and rings the bells and alarms if he sees things ahead that may be problems down the road. I've been worried with the lower turnouts the past three or four years at the junior high and the 9th grade but I'm getting pretty satisfied it's just all the Pokemon Team making an earlier exit than they used to.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
