:roflolk: You couldn’t beat cornersville. You couldn’t beat Peabody. Your offense is predictable and our defense coordinator have a plan to stop it.

What makes you think that Peabody could beat Cornersville. We may not run but 8 or 10 plays but we run them well. Nobody seems to be able to slow down our one dimensional butts.

Did you not read what he typed in all caps ?  He was being smart so I returned a smart comment. No Peabody supporter on here acts like Peabody is the only good team or the best  ever.   I wish you guys the best of luck

That was what I was trying to say in my post. We know there are a ton of really good teams. We just want to play them. Instead we have to give our opinion of what would happen if we did play. Some predictions are better than others.... but for a bunch of amateurs we’re still better than Lee Corso.

I watched them play last year.  You guys got out coached. Huntingdon had more talent last year. The way I see it Huntingdon was better than cornersville and whitwell.

WHY DID ERIC SWENSON AND STAFF CHOOSE TO DROP TO 1A HOWEVER MANY YEARS AGO? WORST MISTAKE IN THE HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM

Thats where Huntingdon got classified. How many schools play up in 1,2,or 3a other than Alcoa. Back when  Huntingdon got dropped to 1a the teams   in 1a where much better than the teams in 2a. in the west.

INCORRECT Huntingdon had the CHOICE to stay 2A or drop to 1A Swenson THOUGHT he would roll thru 1A. We all know how well that's gone

What’s incorrect? I didn’t say Huntingdon didn’t have a choice. I said how many teams play out of their classification. I’m sure there’s more people than Swenson and the coaching staff involved in making this decision. Huntingdon does roll thur 1a every years. There’s just that one team that beats Huntingdon that usually wins the title or at least plays for it.

What do you want them to say? That the team sucks? Fact is they’ve lost 2 games in 2 years to the same team. It’s other fan bases that keep talking about them. They do scrimmage  Covington every year and there’s never really a huge visual gap. We all know that doesn’t equate to the regular season. We’re a 1A team that plays a 1A schedule with longtime rivals of higher classification mixed in. We’re starved for competition. If you ask anyone from Huntingdon, the coaches, or the players, they would LOVE to go back to playing Trenton, Westview, Union City, Dresden every year, but it is what it is. We can only talk about how we’d match up. Basically it’s a glorified pi##ing match and we will never actually know what would happen if we played. Keep winning and bring another gold ball home.

Great point. I believe the stangs schedule hurts them in the end.  I believe they were better than Cornersville but we will never know

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
