I agree.  I was surprised that Waverly wasn't ranked higher.  Other than Alcoa, I don't know much about 3A ball in middle and east Tennessee. However, I'm fairly familiar with the 7-3A teams. 

As far as Dyersburg is concerned, I think an 8th place ranking is about right. However, I'm basing that on how the Trojans looked against Haywood last year.  But this is a different season, and the Trojans have several key players returning.  They have potential, but they definitely need to shore up that defense.

Agreed. Waverly is super talented. Those young men earned a lot of experience last year. I’ll be surprised if they aren’t a Semi Final Team again this year, this time in 3A. Excited to see them do work! Just hope the injury bug doesn’t hit, if we stay healthy, watch out!

I'm familiar with Sonny Moore's power ratings, and I have mentioned his power ratings in the past.  I will agree that his ratings are somewhat reliable.

My bad!  I should have made my question more explicit.  What currently released 2021 preseason polls or ratings do you consider to be reliable?  As of this morning (7/19/21), has Sonny Moore released any 3A preseason rankings for 2021?  If so, I have not been able to find them.  The link <http://sonnymoorepowerratings.com/h-s-foot.htm>  simply takes me to the 2020 end-of-season ratings.  If he has indeed released 2021 preseason ratings, please provide me with the link.  I, as well as others, would like to see what he has to say.

Ironically, you'll find <https://masseyratings.com/hsf/tn/ratings> listed among Sonny Moore's  links of interest.  Evidently, Sonny Moore finds the Massey Ratings to be of some validity.  Why not?  They use a lot of the same data.

Sonny Moore is more data statistics style ranking so it gets better as the season progresses but a little off. I believe BC was being sarcastic my friend.

Yes, I think SM holds off til week 4 to 5 before updating current last season based rankings.

Maybe so, and there might have been a touch of sarcasm in my response. 

Thanks for your input my friend.  I've been around a long time, so I'm quite familiar with Sonny Moore's power ratings.  It's not my intent to support or criticize either Moore or Massey. 

Just as you said about Moore's Ratings, the Massey Ratings are also data statistics style, so they get better as the season progresses.  However, they can also be a little off.  I believe both ratings are more similar than different.  That said, I do believe that Moore is more familiar with Tennessee high school football.

I know this will not help you Guys on the West side of the state, but here on the East side we have 5STAR PREPS. Jesse has a great feel for the teams in East TN. He releases a weekly poll of ETN teams through out the active season. It is always spot on.

Thanks!  I just looked at the website for 5STARPREPS, and it looks like a great site.  I'm not aware of any site in West Tennessee on the same level as 5Star, How about it BPM?  Create one for us.

I'm sure I will visit 5STAR quite frequently as the season progresses.

Good idea. Not sure about a website but we could have a weekly thread here on the T for discussion. I may do that.

      TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
