Looks like the Big Man at Powell has committed to Texas A&M Saturday.

I'm not surprised by this decision seeing that this young man has been at three different high schools since the tenth grade. If this was who most recruiters project as the best prospect out all the high schools across the country it's been nice to be able to see him play a few times this year. I really believe he came in out of shape and carried over into his first few weeks of the season this year. My bet is if the young man does keep his commitment the family will go along nearby and leaving Powell. Hope we can turn on the TV in four years and say we saw him play football around here in high school.

We won’t recognize him in college for a variety of reasons.

3 schools in 3 years, he’ll get consistent coaching at A&M. He will be in shape, he will have no option on that issue. They will take 30-40 lbs off of him and if more goes back on him it will be pure muscle. Only goes hard a 1/3 of time in HS, it doesn’t matter. He won’t get as many snaps in college even when he becomes a starter due to the better schools rotating 7-11 defensive linemen. I sincerely believe we will be watching him on Sunday. He hasn’t got anywhere near his potential.

College Football is filled with guys who never reached their full potential, especially in the SEC. Not saying Nolen is one of those, but he's not a lock either

A guy his size should dominate in high school football. I won't be impressed until he dominates guys his own size.

Right. I remember saying the same thing about Mays when he was at Catholic. I remember he was throwing kids around like rag dolls in HS. He’s still pretty dang good in college, but no matter if it’s Cade or Nolen, once you get up to the higher levels like the SEC, it’s a totally different ballgame and animal. He could very well end up being a bust, you just never know. On the other hand, he could excel. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I do hope A&M unlocks his potential. I knew when he came in here late for fall practice there was no way in the world this young man would be able to stand up to the humidity in the first couple of games carrying that kind of weight against Anderson County and Maryville. There were shades of what he was capable of during those games but not enough to make a difference in either game. I know against Maryville the game was held up three times to get him off the field. After the Maryville game I really never paid any attention to him or Powell after that but I hope him the best moving forward.

    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
    • That's complete BS.  Nobody at ACHS has access to CHS student records unless a transfer is made from CHS to ACHS.
    • Trez's last scandal has died down, so I guess this is there opportunity to be the best 4A team playing in 2A a la Sissy MTN.  At least they won't be in a Z-district with 1a teams in the regular season.
    • Facts...until someone takes down the Rebels they should be the favorite. Got loads of young guys salivating at the opportunity to prove themselves and get a 3peat! Blazer how is Region 1 looking this year?
