The kids I see everyday is ridiculous when it comes to size and girth. As we both know things change and “years ago” is completely outdated. There is a big difference between a job being a “good job” and being “an average job” when it comes to winning high school football programs. What most people don’t understand is that having a great high school football program truly takes the whole town and community pulling in the same direction. More often than not you will have 2 or 3 influential individuals that are jealous and they go rogue and sabotage a program. For Gallatin to become a program that consistently competes for state championships like Oakland or Maryville will require that some peoples feelings get hurt.

Gallatin has struggled with fitness, weight room , and the obvious scheme issues on offense above all. TP focuses more than any coach I know on Weight room and fitness levels. That in itself would improve Gallatin probably immediately.. as for the Scheme issues… it can’t get any worse. During the offseason TP spent a lot of effort in sport psychology classes for himself and his players to learn how to win again after losing 6 in a row. Theres A lot of good things I can say about TP. He would hands down be one of the top options at Gallatin. With that being Said that would be a terrible day if he did. Yet, you still lost to Chad Watson in week 1 with that great scheme and sport psychology.

Does Gallatin have issues with the school board, administration, facilities, money supporting the program, etc… Is Gallatin High School open zoned where anyone from Sumner County would be allowed to attend GHS? Does Sumner County allow residents from surrounding counties the opportunity to pay a nominal ($1500.00) out of counties resident fee to attend Gallatin High School? Majority of the Sumner County School Board is old Gallatin people, also a reason why another school hasn't been built down 109 to help relieve pressure from Gallatin High. They don't want Gallatin to lose athletes. Facilities were great... 20 years ago. Seeing a lot of mention of Trey Perry on here but I don't see him leaving top notch facilities for what they have at Gallatin. Sumner County is closed zone, only open zoned school is Liberty Creek. I think Watson could have been successful if he had a coaching staff around him. He has had some great coaches however they have all left due to better opportunities. Past coaches and teachers of Gallatin have said it feels like a Metro school with the amount of students and crap that goes on, but without the Metro pay. I think more than anything the administration needs to get a handle on their school before athletics pick back up. I am pretty sure Gallatin is at the bottom of the county in every category academically as of the 2022 statistics.

From what you have said it sounds like Gallatin is a complete S*** Show and while someone will take the job, no one of any real substance from outside the Sumner County area will want to deal with the politics and GOOD OLD BOY SYSTEM that is firmly entrenched in Gallatin. With the head job openings at Lipscomb Academy, Brentwood Academy, and Wilson Central I think Gallatin might be having a much tougher time hiring a coach now. Now have to wonder if someone can pull Crabtree away from Beech and create a job opening there...

Where did that come from?? Station Camp and Liberty Creek have both been built where kids who attended Gallatin back in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. There was never been a plan to put another school down 109 because growth was towards Hendersonville. Everybody knows that. Funny how bad Gallatin is and how many teachers left for Liberty Creek and all the amenities they got handed to them….none!! Not one left to go there. Painting a bad picture of Gallatin High School is not realistic. Oh they have issues, any school with 1600 kids will. But to act like they are far and above the problem School of the county is ridiculous. Gallatin does not control the pay either, that is Sumner County Schools. In fact Sumner Co just got a pay increase and if you check around, they compete very well by the numbers with that increase.

He is a good man, and he cares deeply about his players. I hope he has a ton of success at his next stop. The upcoming decisions that will be made are huge for Ron Becker and the administration at Gallatin. This coaching search and subsequent hiring are vital to restoring a damaged relationship between Gallatin football and its supporting community/fanbase. Our last 2 hires (only one of those being on Becker's watch) certainly didn't pan out. I know Dr. Becker wants more than anyone to get this one right. Having said all that... I've been keeping a running list for about the last 2 years (ever since Gallatin started running the flexbone-triple option) of my "wishlist" of potentially realistic coaches I could see leading the Green Wave. They are as follows: 1.) Adam Caine 52-12 overall at Upperman 26-10 overall at Sequatchie County Caine has done more with less, which is why he is my #1 pick. No one will mistake Dunlap and Baxter as hotbeds of talent, yet AC has won at a 78% clip between these schools. This is among the highest winning percentages in high school football today. 2.) Chris Smith 48-8 overall at Haywood 31-16 overall at Germantown Smith probably won't even pick up the phone. But the young man has won double digit games in each of his last 6 seasons. That in itself is reason enough to contact him. 3.) JR Kirby 39-12 overall at Covington 15-7 overall at Munford Another west TN guy who probably doesn't have much interest in moving to the Nashville area. But who out there just LOVES living in west TN??? 4.) Brad Waggoner 18-7 overall at Gatlinburg-Pittman 19-8 overall at Trousdale County I'm sure that everyone in Hartsville not named "Satterfield" wishes they had this guy back right now. His offense puts up gaudy numbers, and he produced a QB this year with over 2900 yards through the air. 5.) Thomas Osteen 81-30 overall at Marshall County Always fields a competitive team. Several double digit win seasons. 6.) Matt Smith 93-44 overall at Hardin County Multiple 10+ win seasons. 2800 yard passer this year (possibly his son though?) Who wants to live in Savannah??? 7.) *** This is my "outside the box" hire - But is also probably my #1B behind Caine *** Scott Martin 80-23 overall at Charleston, MS 41-24 overall at Kirk Academy MS I think Scott Martin is actually get-able for Gallatin. This is a guy who won 10+ games every year except 1 while at 3A Charleston - and that season was 9-4. 5 seasons of 12 or more wins between the 2 schools. But my favorite stat is his 28-10 playoff record. Martin is currently an assistant coach at a school in Oxford, and I spoke to someone earlier today who told me that Martin will be a head coach again at some point - given the right opportunity. I understand that some, if not all of these men probably won't entertain the idea of coaching at Gallatin. But these are the guys that I would make a phone call to. Go Green Wave. This is a good list! I would definitely contact some of these. Starting with Caine. I think I would have him tell me no several times. The Mississippi guy is very interesting as well as Chris Smith.
