I expect a close game this friday. Maryville is coming off 2 emotional revenge type games.  Science Hill is playing good football this year. Any team that whips Elizabethon must be pretty good.

Science Hill has one of the best teams they have had in maybe 10 years.     That being said, I'm just not sure they can hang with Maryville for 4 quarters.     They traditionally play undisciplined so you can expect several personal fouls to be thrown.  Their offense is pretty good but also predictable.     I'm sure the Maryville coaching staff will pick up on all that from the game film.     Hard to predict a score because Science Hill has the athleticism to keep it close in the 1st half.        Let's go with something like this:      Halftime  Maryville leads 21-14, Final Maryville 38-21

Oh, and for whatever reason there is rarely much local fan support for Science Hill, which is really bad for such a big 6A school.     The players deserve better than that, most times I have been there the visitor section has more fans.      So bring a ton of people from Maryville and let's get Johnson City rocking this Friday night

Game will be very similar to 1st round of playoffs when Rebels had 450 yds of offense.  And current senior back gutted them with 200 yds of offense.

Really don’t see the suspended player making any impact unless there are some injuries. Don’t see Murvl changing much especially when they are 5-0 without him.  Saying goes you don’t fix something if it ain’t broke…

But you will get to see him versus Hardin Valley, in the 2nd half when starters are out and the score is 50-0. I’d say you can see him tonight at West in the JV game.

Two years in a row we lost our key player and very lucky to have a backup standing by that could carry the load. Price is tough as nails and a great leader and done a great job over the winter in workouts and it's shows but there is a major drop off sometimes when he goes out of the game when we are still playing the other teams number 1 unit.

A win is a win but that wasn't a quality win for SH, Union Va is a small school like Alcoa but nowhere on the same playing level as Alcoa. Union does have a TE in the NFL for the Detroit Lions name James Mitchell but this would be like Maryville beating Gatlinburg Pittman 31-7, of course you'd take it but amongst yourselves you'd say Maryville have much work to do.

I sure hope the concession food is good or do I need to stop at Pal's on the way. That's hard on a person driving a hundred miles to see a football game only to be served  hot dogs even the Haitians wouldn't eat. That's why we give you lots of options before coming to our place.

Science Hill has always had good concessions when I've been there.     Chick-fila sandwiches, HB's, etc.                But you can't beat doing a Pal's run either

The Hillflopper will benefit from the always-crooked Tri-Cities officiating crew, which is very apropos since they are playing Merryville. Unfortunately, the only thing the officials will be able to save them from is a running clock. Merryville takes this one big and continues the tradition of upper East TN football getting beat when they finally come off the mountain and play real schools.

SH has a good team and good size on both sides of the ball. But Betsy has a young team this years and had some problems with a player that first game and it was just 14-7 at the half. Not taking anything away from SH because they are good but don’t see them beating Maryville.

Agree.  Discipline and fielding punts are enough for 2 touchdowns alone in Maryville’s favor.  I just don’t see much different from previous encounters dating back to 2010.  I will say though, the sophomore running back is outstanding and doesn’t get enough carries.  He’s number 24.  18 is a very fast back as well.

Ory Vananda Walker will help out a lot. I love the way Price Davis runs. He is a hard nose football player. I worry about him getting hurt because he is doing too much. Ory played great last year until he separated his shoulder. He ran for over 100yds vs Science Hill and Bearden. Ory hits the hole faster than Davis does. I would love to see a 3 headed monster at RB. Especially after the last 2 seasons when Noah Vaughn and Gage Ladue got hurt.

    • Didn't misinterpret any thing. He was throwing our players under the bus saying they werent trying and then made a comment like Westview's jersey was in GC and Union City's head. My comment was that Westview has tons of talent especially with the transfers that have came in. Sure wasn't we choked out with the talent they had last year. I don't know if he is a South Gibson Fan or a Westview Fan but this is a message board and I for one am going to defend my school.
    • 4&6?  Please break down AE's schedule and tell me how you get 6 losses.  I'm interested in hearing this..
    • You have sucked ever since he left, like UT and Fulmer
    • Correct me if I'm wrong Guru, but I interpreted what you were saying as some Westview opponents having a mental block to overcome because of the name on the uniform.  Much like Duke or Kentucky in Men's college hoops. I do think you're wrong about Gibson Co. being that way. They are Duke's North Carolina. No fear there! Think Pioneer misinterpreted what you were saying and lashed out with the "transfer rhetoric." Anyway back to the present, I believe the parity in the district will be good this year, much like the days when Obion Co. battled those two in district.
