  1. Tab it’s going to get better just sit back and wait and when it does you can say I was right.I know a lot of these kids and coaches and they are going to do what it takes to get better. If we never win a gold ball I will still be there cheering these kids on.

  2. Middle school success does matter if you have a system in place where the little league, middle school, and high school coaches are all on the same page and working together to develop players. That's what has made Maryville, Alcoa and Greeneville great programs. It's that simple.

  3. How many snaps have you taken as a starter? How many two a days have you been through or summer workouts? Zeeeeerrrrooo. Stop knocking other programs and the hard work the kids put in. You're using Greenevilles success to stroke your own ego. As a former devils football player I have nothing but respect for Betsy. Even if they win one game this year that's one more football game then you've ever won. Have some respect for the game and the people that have actually strapped up dude.

  4. The middle school has been good but the crew that just come thru lost 3 times in 2nd round bad ( Anderson County 2 times and CAK) and in 3rd round to Alcoa that was a close game. The crew now likes to score but not sure they are sold on playing defense. Moral of the story middle school success or failure does not matter in high school.

  5. Hi All, My name is Brody Faler and I'm the new head coach at Ravenwood High School. I'm new to the area (from Washington State in the Portland, OR Metro) and looking for help in getting things together. I have two main questions: 1. Girls Wrestling: I am looking to build up a girls wrestling program at RHS. I have coached at two schools that had strong girl wrestling programs and am sold on the benefits. Does anybody know of a lady in the Nashville area who would be interested in helping start a girls program? Wrestling experience would be ideal, but general knowledge of the sport is all that is necessary. It will be a paid position. 2. Club Wrestling--Youth Coach: I'm starting a club program based out of Ravenwood and have a head coach for middle/high school wrestlers, but do not have someone to coach youth wrestlers. Does anybody know of a knowledgeable individual that is interested in helping start a club and head up the youth portion of it? Some pay will be included. Thanks. I look forward to getting to know the TN wrestling community. Feel free to shoot me an email. Brody broderick.faler@wcs.edu

  8. i didnt read a stitch of this thread other than the title of it....i came straight here, to drop a bomb and rum.....if people want to see some talk about teams in Northeast Tennessee aside from Greeneville and Betsy, then maybe some of those teams might want to step up and give people a reason to be talking about them...other than " this team lost to greeneville, or that team dropped another one to betsy, or greeneville and betsy appear to be headed for their annual clash to see who's the king of N.E.T.....and so far, even THAT hasnt been much of a conversation either....what say you northeast tennessee football fans???

  11. The biggest intangible in middle school regardless of the level of coaching is the players themselves. Interest and desires change overtime. That stud 5’7 150lb linebacker in the 8th grade with the 8.5 shoe and shaving ends up 5’7 and 175lb. Senior. On the other hand that short fat kid that can’t move with size 12’s might end up 6’3 275lb. With quick feet.

  15. I remember how wonky the playoffs seeding got at the very end last year. It kinda feels like we are eating our own sometimes. I personally love it! I think its good for our kids to have to play tough competition week in and week out. When you get to the playoffs it only gets harder....

  17. McEwen played the Mustangs pretty tough last season. I liked how the team fought. I can see them being improved this year.

  18. I decided to see what I could find on former Wildcats from their new school's websites. NOT MUCH! Mark Kaczocha was listed on Centre College roster but so was Tommy who is playing football in Finland right now. If you haven't been following Tommy Kaczocha on Twitter please DO! It is a blast watching his short videos and representing the Wildcats so well. Herbert Booker is a DB at North Carolina A & T. Looks like it will be hard to get playing time since the Aggies have one All American DB and a Penn State transfer already. Mr. Friday Night Lights will have to become Mr. Saturday Night Fever. Kai'Reese Pendergrass is listed as a WR for Carson Newman.. Timothy Johnson and Ted Mitchell are also there. Tusculum has former OR QB Johnny Stewart at LB. Also, Jaycen McGee. Gardner Webb has Jeremy Mitchell at DB and Kyndall Clark at LB. Kyndall had 2 tackles last season and guess what else??? Yep, he still has his uncanny ability to recover fumbles. He is an All American turnover specialist. Darel Middleton IS playing at Tennessee no matter who wants to deny him that accomplishment. I am proud of Darel. Tee Higgins is Tee Higgins. Plays at Clemson but could start anywhere he wanted. ***Most of the former Cats play small college ball so National TV is very unlikely. However, a lot of teams stream their games on the Internet so you still maybe able to follow the Wildcats, Have great seasons former Wildcats,

  26. Nothing to do with anyone on current staff.... Coach Meeks and Coach Hayworth are outstanding guys, I doubt their intentions were to recruit and if I’m wrong Id be seriously surprised......but honestly anyone who understands Grundy county at its core would be foolish to blame them if it were.... GC is probably one of the worst places in the south to grow up from an opportunities standpoint. There is I believe 1 doctor in the whole county... no hospital, no Walmart, very little industrial work, it’s as poverty stricken place as any of the worst places in rural Appalachia and of course small town politics rules the roost... This is a 3a school and yearly only suits 30-40 kids..... it has no middle school, several k-8 schools , and a religious following to their elementary basketball program. The geographical uniqueness of the area doesn’t help the situation any as some kids have to travel 30-40 minutes to the high school. The hurdles a coach at Grundy county has to overcome are enormous for the sole fact that a they have more kids who are focused merely on surviving then the entire valley combined..... The reality of life is , it’s hard to do much in life when you’re thinking about where your next meal comes from....... All that aside , they have enough athletes to be competitive in the valley yearly they just need to 1. Get out of their own way and 2. Use their unique environment to their advantage!
