  1. I attended this game. I'm not from UHS or York. I haven't watched either team this year. What I saw was a York team come in and make some difficult shots in the first half. If they miss those shots, UHS would have won going away because some of the shot selection of York's shots were questionable. But when you hit shots, you look good and York hit those and they got favorable bounces off the rims. Having said that.....UHS hand checks and bumps from the backside a lot. When a player is out of position, those bumps will get called every time. I am not surprised that UHS got so many fouls called against them, they are "handsy." It didn't help that UHS coach was complaining about so many calls. In fact, one of the refs gave him a warning due to being outside of the coaches box. I can't say I blame the ref in that case. The ref (yes, one ref) set the tone from the start of this game. UHS didn't adjust and York made shots. UHS appears to be very deep, but credit York for making big shots. Perhaps there were calls that went for York, but there appeared to be a few that went for UHS. But, it is not a good look to complain about every other foul (from players and coaches). Because, I can almost guarantee it will not help officiating. Sure, I would be in favor to let the officials know that was a terrible call, but not all the time. In the end, the latter makes one look like a complainer.

  2. There a few who are trying to make the argument that somehow the refs were purposely favoring York. I know several refs and trust me, they could care less who wins or loses. When you start blaming refs, then you're excusing bad play. What were the shooting percentages for both teams? Sounds like york deserves credit for beating a good team

  3. I can't remember an UHS loss in a big game that the officials were not blamed for the loss. I've followed 8AA for many years and I can assure you that the UHS teams have had more than their share of questionable calls during the games that I have watched, with some of these calls or non calls possibly contributing to a UHS win. Sometimes 'you get the bear' and sometimes 'the bear gets you'! That game is over. Let's look ahead to supporting both 8AA teams when thy play in the sectional!

  5. Y'all doing a good job of shakin' the bush BigEd, but I'm sort of feelin' sorry for that AAU coach man... another post or two and his momma going to ground him from the computer for throwin' tantrums!!! Five will get you ten that he's been screamin' at his screen while typing. His cage ain't rattled, his head gasket is blown,

  6. Bradley didn’t play their best game and Tullahoma hit some big shots to stay within striking distance.

  7. Yep. And she could still give the finalists in class A a run for their money today no doubt in my mind. She had an outstanding career at GC and helped win 2 state titles! Back to back. Miss Basketball is a joke. Explain to me how you have a girl that is 70-1 over 2 years , won 2 state titles not win? People must have forgotten, she played in district 13 AA. At the time the best player in the toughest district in the state from top to bottom. No question.! As far as I know the girl from Westview won. (Won't mention names) who got put out in the simi's and won it over Heather Butler. I remember. Its miss Basketball for a reason. She was clearly the best player in AA at least her senior year, maybe both seasons. Oh well, doesn't really matter. OVC MVP at least twice. Brought UT Martin to some of its best years ever. Played in 2 NCAA games....I'm pretty sure. Oh yeah, then she went on to play professional ball for a few years. Hands down the best player in AA those 2 years. When politics get involved , it's shameful.

  10. Westview wins 50-45! Westview had Barr and E Leyhue foul out which hurt in the 4th. Refs definitely let Covington play without calling much of anything. Harrison showed out with 33 points. Covington couldn’t stop her off the dribble and she knocked down free throws when it counted

  12. I am curious why you won't say anything and yet you posted on the 1A site about him and the whitwell job and on here as well. Did he do you wrong? Because if you're on a social crusade I would think you would be very clear what he did and put your name with it... parents need to know if their coach is a bad person. Coaches are huge mentors.

  14. If the D2 games are any indication looks like some of the fans better toughen up. Those refs were letting them go. Basketball is evolving and girls are starting to play like the boys and making it more physical. Makes for some great ball playing!

  15. Pickett will pressure the ball the entire game. Full court and half. Play with a lot of tempo on both sides of the ball. At least that’s how they have played for the last 10 or so years that I’ve seen them.

  17. Work that sounds good but the problem with that is the current Metro principals do not hire assistant coaches as teachers as a priority. Most Metro Staff they'll have to be filled with non-faculty coaches because of this. The solution is different principles with priorities in sports. And an athletic director who strives to increase the quality of our Sports programs. Every Metro school has a Zone with enough athletes to compete the problem is giving them a reason to attend the schools. Coaching in Metro today is harder than any other time in history due to the lack of support

  18. You dont like us and insult us. Why don't you soft boys schedule us in football. We'll show you what physical is all about.

  19. I agree Loretto is for sure the better team, but I've seen a number of games this year that was much more physical than this game where their were a lot less fouls called. Girls basketball has become a very physical game and the refs have caused it. Personally I think the game should be called much closer than it is now. Officials have allowed full body contact all year in our part of the state.

  20. Upperman fans complaining about officiating in a boys or girls game is ironic. They both get favorable results from officials in almost every game they play in the Upper Cumberland. Both coaches “work” the district/local officials from every opening whistle and reap the benefits. The difference is those officials are not present in region contests. In the region they face what every district coach opposing Upperman faces In every game before the regions......little to zero consideration. Honestly for the first time in four games York didn’t settle for jacking 3s. They attacked Baxter in the paint. Did they get the benefit of a couple calls, I’d agree. But can’t anyone say York was not the more aggressive, downhill team. Did York get away with one here or there, probably. It happens... Upperman has been on the fortunate end of that stick over this season & more often than not over the last few years. Unlike the Upperman fans that have posted, hopefully both 8AA teams go to Murfreesboro. More importantly, Jamestown Is wishing the best for Baxter and their recovery from the tornado.

  21. From Bolivar & graduated from Covington I heard that. It will be a game for sure! Probably the best Covington team in school history! It’s a shame we have to play each other to make it to state! We should have to play a middle or East team instead of a west tn team.

  22. Congrats to Pearl Cohn. Pearl Cohn as I said in another thread are an ELITE team. They need a good draw and have great chance to be in the gold ball game. Community, great basketball and atmosphere and honestly place to play. They have possibly best boys team ever there so I have heard, in a traditional just loving basketball place. You CANNOT sleep on East. If you are basing it off of tonight East #0 did not play, a very physical guard. Anyone know why? #24 is a much better shooter than he showed tonight. I think Community and East will be good game. Believe this first time since community has moved up to AA been in this position. Maybe experience will play a factor. East has like 5 losses, 4 to pearl cohn and 1 to Mt.Juliet. I Might have to drive out to ole Unionville for that game. Good luck to All!

  23. Blows my mind that these posters think it is going to be the Greenfield Invitational. All true Greenfield Fans don’t think that way and they probably hate it when posters post this stuff but it gets posted and doesn’t do Greenfield any favors. But good luck tomm. I know we have to go to Memphis and play a good team and that will be tough so we have our hands full for sure.

  25. Agree! Loretto is far superior in talent to the Fillies.. Huntington was obviously using the “they can’t call every foul” strategy in this game! Can’t fault you for trying, but the better team won!

  26. I would guess that both teams, Eagleville and Moore County, have a very healthy respect for both of their opponents. Reading these boards is pretty funny sometimes. I would say most of the people discussing these games have the least amount invested in them. I guarantee 4 coaches spent the better part of 2 days preparing their team for this game. There are never any free passes. I hope all four teams compete their guts out and and stay healthy on the court and their travels. There are many teams and players across the state that never get an opportunity to compete in a sectional game, much less a state tournament.

  28. You are wrong and your mentality is what is wrong with a lot (not all) of the the younger society. Snowflakes let the bully off the hook even if they go so far as to mock a kid recovering from major surgery. I guarantee you more of your fans believe (like I do) they should take up for themselves and hold bullies accountable than believe (like you do) that the bully should be able to walk away with zero consequences. That only enables the bully and the next kid they attack or mock will get it even worse. I stand by my statement, if my kid is the one being mocked after a major surgery then I will handle it the old fashioned way not the snowflake way so that it may save the next kid from something even worse.

  29. Again, accusations with no proof. I tell you how it should have been handled. You point the young men/women out to security and have them own what they said. AD issues warning and it’s over unless mom/dad get involved. If mom/dad act stupid, you have the entire family removed. If dad alone acts stupid and it’s my kid recovering from surgery being mocked, then dad pays the price and I call someone to bail me out. But to come on here and throw an entire city under the bus without proof is irresponsible and unintelligent. By the way, the assistant coach having to absorb the technical foul speaks to the entire issue. The head coach should have handled it early and send the message, we will protect our own. Technical gets issued early and no one gets punished any further. She chose to play quiet mouse instead of getting in front of the issue. I repeat, if it happened like you said then she would have been hailed the hero while teaching her players a valuable life lesson. “PROTECT YOUR TEAMMATES”

  30. Called class? If I heard it I would handle it right there on the spot instead of announcing it on this forum with absolutely zero proof. Letting someone get away with something like that is not an indicator of class if indeed it happened the way you described. We all know that things get exaggerated on this forum. Just like the ‘face mask’ being ripped off multiple times. That was an outright lie. Now I am hearing that they just tried to rip it off. Ridiculous Also if it was being ripped off (which it wasn’t) or even trying to be ripped off then your coach would have been totally justified if not held up as a hero if she sends someone on to the floor to handle it. Protecting your own is the definition of class.

  31. mas1821 I probably won’t be at another Loretto game but if i were to be there would be no chatting. Snowflakes chat, men do not. Again I saw the Huntingdon game live and watched the video. There were fouls not called both ways just like every single basketball game on earth. Loretto grabbed, hand checked, pushed just as Huntingdon did. If you weren’t a homer you would concede this. If it was so bad why would your head coach let it go and not put a ‘head hunter’ in the game to fight back. Either your coach has no spine, the refs were from Huntingdon, or you are just plain wrong. I will go with you are wrong.
