  1. A big thank you to the men who gave us our Independence. And another big thank you to those of you who have served to keep us independent. As you watch fireworks shows tonight (if you can find any), think about the fact that nearly 245 years ago that was the sounds of cannons being heard. Think of the fact that a fledgling group of colonies and colonists were taking on the greatest military power of it's day. All for a better way of life. We haven't been the most perfect nation since then, and the founders knew we were not perfect then. But they laid the framework so that we could constantly build towards a more perfect Union. There will never be perfection but we must always strive, as a nation and as a people, to uphold what they gave us and to build upon it. Happy birthday to the United States.

  2. It was the best thing to come along at the time and is still the best thing. Anyone that disagrees are welcome to move their unhappy butts to China and work under the C.C.P.

  3. There is no way to stop the virus from spreading. For example, even though NC has been much stricter than Tennessee, they still have higher numbers than Tennessee. As the great children’s song “Going on a bear hunt suggest”... we can’t go over it, or under it..... we have to go through it. Fortunately, it’s not as deadly as once feared. Time to mask up when possible, wash our hands, and our distances all while moving forward with life.

  5. And to be honest, it’s one of the best non-district games in the state. Both teams and their fans aren’t complaining due to the fact that a 4 and a 5A teams are playing.

  6. Thanks man, I just spit coffee all over the keyboard. I do this intentionally sometimes just to watch the reaction for the entertainment value, but really it is a sad state of affairs.....

  9. I seen on Twitter a day or two ago Davon Kimble had tweeted (I'm paraphrasing) that he was never offended representing the maryville rebels, he understood the name came from a rebellion against the tssaa, had he been offended he and his brother would have went to Alcoa. While he was a student at maryville he was well loved and respected by his teachers, peers and coaches, along with a great education. Changing the name would eradicate every accomplishment they have received. He stands by the name. Aj Davis, T.D Blackmon and Tee Hodge have all retweeted DK post in support. Maryville faithful you guys have the support from blacks saying yall are family, there's nothing that can break that bond. So like some have already eluded this is going to be a non issue that maybe got some steam at first but will eventually fade.

  10. Deaths are way down and if they stay down it will lose the definition of a pandemic. In the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 flu was so bad in schools sometimes 25% of schools were infected with flu.

  11. That’s why they won’t be a season it will be to hard to keep social distancing and police it. It will be a place just to pass along COVID-19 And make numbers go up. Might as well be safe and start planning to have a season next year.

  12. Even though I went to Maryville High I strongly disagree how the school is run versus the day's when I went there. The football program is the only thing I still have a connection to while setting here helplessly watching one generation being poisoned after another. That's why this country is in the mess it's in and why the cashier at McDonald's freezes in their skin when the bill comes to $10.04 and you hand them $20.04 and the meltdown begins. They don't know how to count thanks to the educated idiots that run these schools. I get so sick and tired going to a game at Maryville and listening to the stadium rules being blasted that I usually arrive 5 minutes before the game to avoid hearing it. They don't want a Rebel Flag there which everyone knows so they hide it in with no flags on poles and no animals. I've been going for fifty years and never thought about bringing my animals with me or ever seen anyone do something that stupid. The name is Red Rebels and how it got shortened to Rebels on all the uniforms is a oversight on the schools behalf and I saw that one coming a few years ago but that has more to do with common sense which is another thing the last few generations are lacking on big time. I'm so sick of watching this country give in one inch at a time until it has became a mile. If they change the name to please the misfits that are giving all the trouble then they know where to stick their season tickets I've bought for many years. There are plenty of options on things to do on Friday Night these days and that's why you see the football stadiums only about a fifth full after the third game of the year everywhere. Not only will this cost Maryville High a King's Ransom to pay and change all of this but lose a lot of the big money people behind the program. The misfits doing all the fussing don't go to the games anyhow and most live out of town. The only way you'll ever see one of them back at a game is to come watch Junior blowing a flute or carrying a flag in the band one day.

  16. Interesting data. Of the deaths recorded of HS and college age people the virus accounts for just over 1% or in another light 99% of deaths for that age group have not been related to the Coronavirus. The percentage is even smaller for MS aged children. So the discussion point is if schools are opening on time (not all may be opening on time with in class services) and they are not requiring masks in the class rooms, is the TSSAA guideline for conducting athletic activity risk mitigation or risk avoidance?

  17. Where is your info coming from? Yesterday SC had 27 deaths and TX had 57. There are almost 30 million people in TX. Texas’ death rate for the last three days has been 10, 21, and 57.

  18. Nobody wants anybody to die from this. Nobody. But that’s sadly the fear/panic mentality kicking in...kids can die from a car accident, heat-related issue, etc. There are always risks...it’s life in general. There is just no supporting evidence that kids are going to die, or even have significant issues from this. Older folks and the at risk may opt to continue being very careful and staying away from kids and crowds in general, which is perfectly fine. That is how it should be...each person decides for himself/herself. I’m not scared in the least of kids testing positive because of what has already been mentioned. They will be fine and should be smart, staying away from the vulnerable. The herd immunity is a thing and the more asymptomatic and mild cases we have, the quicker we will all make it past this. I currently keep my distance from the vulnerable just in case. I also constantly wash my hands and stay clean. Being smart and using common sense is the key! No, I won’t wear a mask to a game, especially in the 90 degree heat. I’ll opt to watch on TV until the mask mania subsides.

  19. I wear a mask in public out of respect for others. Whether it helps or not. Small price to pay to make people feel safe.

  20. We need to revisit as a State the boundaries we've given an elected official. Anyone else think he's been given too much power?? He's destroyed many businesses and livelihoods with his heavy handed "executive orders". How many more businesses will be destroyed before we say enough is enough? With more testing comes more positive results. MOST people understand that. I'm not trying to come across as an unconcerned human being. I just feel that limiting EVERYONE (even the low risk population) is the wrong approach. If you're in the "high risk" category, YOU should quarantine yourself. (Only makes sense). Why force a healthy 16 year old who could likely fight this off in a few days, to totally miss out on what should be one of the most memorable times of their lives??

  21. I want to say congratulations to Fight on for William Blount 91 for getting his college degree from the University of Tennessee. The guy worked hard going after this working crazy hours and doing the stuff most of us wouldn't to accomplish this. Congrats good buddy.
