  1. You are 100% correct it is the coaches fault , however that doesn't mean that as a wrestling community we can't show a little compassion for our fellow parent's and assist them with scrounging up a ticket here and there . I know if the roles were reversed and I wasn't able to get tickets because of an error on my coaches part I would be very appreciative of anyone that was willing to help me out. I do understand that these are unique circumstances and tickets are extremely hard to come by but I would encourage anyone able to assist do so .

  2. Or out of trouble, or motivated, or any number of things. I've seen more than a few really good HS wreslers flame out within the 1st semester of a college season.

  3. I wanted to create a thread to give our A/AA boys some love. Let's get the predictions going! I'm interested to hear everyone's take, individually and team score. Here's how I have it playing out: 106 1. Ethan Uhorchuk (Signal Mtn.) 2. Porter Finstad (Gibbs) 3. Sam Frank (Fairview) 4. Landon Turner (Harpeth) 113 1. Caleb Uhorchuk (Signal Mtn.) 2. Leandre Dabney (Greeneville) 3. Greg Gomez (MLK) 4. Hunter Gentry (Pigeon Forge) I expect Leandre to give Caleb a better match than most think. I wouldn't be totally shocked to see an upset here. This will be a big one in terms of the team score. Whoever loses this one, their team essentially can't catch PF in my opinion. 120 1. Andy Cable (Pigeon Forge) 2. Keegan Seaver (Fairview) 3. Noah Shriner (Signal Mtn.) 4. Gordon Mccall (Alcoa) 126 1. Daniel Uhorchuk (Signal Mtn.) 2. Trevor Lewis (Hixson) 3. Charles Dabney (Greeneville) 4. Dylan Davenport (Sycamore) Daniel v. Trevor will be the match of the tournament. I'm stoked for this one! 132 1. Brice Barton (Whitwell) 2. Riley Lippincott (Nolensville) 3. Hunter Johnson (Greeneville) 4. Caleb Miller (Hixson) Lippincott is my sleeper pick for the tournament. I saw where Barton pinned him at the regionals but if he's on, Lippincott can win this weight. Johnson has to win for Greeneville to have a crack at the team title. 138 1. Hunter Mason (Greeneville) 2. Noah Dyer (Pigeon Forge) 3. Kale Albritton (Signal Mtn.) 4. Seth McCoy (Forrest) Mason is my pick for OW. Dyer will beat Albritton in the quarters despite being the #7 seed and this will be a major factor in lifting PF to the team title. 145 1. Josh Parton (Pigeon Forge) 2. John Pittman (Gibbs) 3. Riley Bennett (Fairview) 4. Brody Mclemore (Eagleville) Pittman's a senior vet wrestling his best at the end of his career. Almost knocked off Parton at the regionals. I'm calling an upset over Bennett in the quarters before he drops another close match to Parton in the finals. 152 1. Garrett Foreman (Pigeon Forge) 2. Alex Overbay (Sullivan South) 3. Dalen Kimble (Sycamore) 4. Blake Mitchell (Fairview) 160 1. Kodiak Cannedy (Greeneville) 2. Malachi Bennett (Fairview) 3. Kobie Smith (Hixson) 4. Donnovin Darnell (Eagleville) 170 1. Wyatt Mclemore (Eagleville) 2. Cooper Edwards (Harpeth) 3. Marco Pukl (Pigeon Forge) 4. Morgan Lowery (Greeneville) 182 1. Kevin Muschel (Signal Mtn.) 2. Noah Hill (Forrest) 3. Joseph Skidmore (Pigeon Forge) 4. Kendrick Curtis (Fairview) Probably the deepest weight class, going to fun to watch this one! I have Muschel being the lowest seed (#7) to win a championship. Kevin v. Joseph in the quarters will be a good one. We'll see some great quarterfinal action in a lot of these weights. 195 1. Ethan Sutton (Pigeon Forge) 2. Preston Worley (Signal Mtn.) 3. Nathan Montpool (Nolensville) 4. Logan Woodall (Hixson) 220 1. Jonathan Morton (Elizabethton) 2. Parrish Pacetti (Hixson) 3. Caleb Wolfe (Pigeon Forge) 4. Rob Atwood (Trousdale County) 285 1. Kaymon Overton (East Nashville) 2. Mustafi Algarawi (Pigeon Forge) 3. Jacob Clevenger (Fairview) 4. Seth Vaughn (Fulton) Team 1. Pigeon Forge 2. Signal Mtn. 3. Greeneville 4. Fairview

  4. I totally get what you are saying, and I agree the game was by far more important than worrying about ( I’ll say it again) petty stuff. I also get why fans were not ok with it. Good luck to y’all as well!

  5. For tournament seeding purposes. There was a three way regular season co champ, same as Warren and White were co champs on the boys side. Like I said, seemed petty not to acknowledge, but in the end what matters was the tournament championship.

  8. Look I didn't say anything about BC not being good. BC is BC and that's enough right there. I have nothing but respect for that team and program. I just think the talent gap has shrunk this season. And the competition level that Cookeville played vs what BC played isn't even close. I think that will make them ready for the challenge. We did have a bad game against an average Catholic team but they shot lights out. I think it was like 7-8 from 3 in the first half. And we shot REALLY bad. Its obvious that if we shoot bad then we can't compete with any of the top teams. But if we shoot average then we will beat ALOT of teams and if we shoot well then we can beat anyone. You want to talk about matchups but you didn't mention Stewarts Creek as a common opponent. Go take a look at that comparison. BC is a great program with a great team. I just think that this year since we have such high level competition at the top of our district that it will be tougher on them facing our #2 or possibly even Cleveland now. Don't think for a second I am overlooking them. Cookeville will have to play a good game to beat Stone, BC, Cleveland or whoever they face from this day forward. And in this season they have had alot of bad games and lost to some teams they shouldn't have. They also have beaten many of the teams ranked in the polls this year. But to get where they wan to go this year they can't have any more of those bad games. Also most people forget that Cookeville went on the road last year with a very young team too face BC in Region tourney and we led the entire first half. BC was the better team the second half (especially in the 3rd quarter where I think we scored 3 pts). A technical foul on the bench killed the comeback in the 4th. And Cookeville couldn't convert on the last 3 possessions with BC making FT's at the end to stretch the game to 10-11 pts. This is important because this Cookeville team is better than last years team and I don't think BC can say the same thing with what they lost. But to be 100% honest, I think Stone and WC match up better with BC than Cookeville. Especially at the 5 spots. But enough talking about it. Proof is in the pudding. Tonight's game will tell us if this team has the mentality it will take to win a championship. If they can't win this game or make it a very competitive game then it will be hard for them to walk into BC and pull out a W. It just takes a special team to do that. Lets see what happens...

  9. Thank you to those who have some compassion and understanding. We aren't interested in playing the blame game at this point, just want to see our kids wrestle. So if you know of extra tickets, please let me know. And please think about if the shoe were on the other foot, and it was you who were in this position. You would definitely appreciate if those with extra tickets for non family members could graciously be sold to children's parents who were not able to purchase tickets.

  10. TSSAA website stated the ticketing policy very clearly. They could have updated it at any time. There is some blame in that.

  11. The link was private and not shared with anybody but coaches for the Go Fans, you couldn't search it up. The tickets sold last Friday was for extra family members, ADs, bus drivers and other people related to the team. Could normal people get them? Sure, but that was not the intent of the TSSAA. The TSSAA had a coaches meeting about tickets and told us everything we needed to know and sent the codes out as the meeting was going on. If you didnt get your code it was your coaches fault!!

  12. The governor lifted the "only household" about 2-3 weeks ago. Some school districts still were limiting ticket sales even after that was lifted, I know ours did - for all sports.

  13. Definitely fun. Can't overlook anyone. Also add that Catholic beat Baylor by 3 last week.

  14. LOL! I didn't even think about Chittum. For the sake of discussion, we'll say he doesn't even count. He's in a league of his own!

  15. How can anyone even argue that Hunter Mason is not the pound for pound king? What you could argue is he might be the best pound for pound in any of the divisions and the kid's only in 10th grade! Someone said it already, but I think they're spot on... you have to look at what these guys have done outside of TN. For instance, the top guys in most of the weight classes rarely even wrestle a full 3 periods unless it's in the state semis or state finals, so just looking at their results in TN lends a shortsighted view. Hunter has an impressive resume on the national scene and is nationally ranked, which says it all for me. I find it hard to imagine even someone like Daniel Uhorchuk could keep it close with Hunter Mason if they were in the same weight. I would trade my Auburn-Alabama tix next year to see a Hunter Mason v. Garrison Dendy (DII, Baylor) match though!

  16. It's tough because you have to weigh the importance of playing and practicing. While not playing any games for multiple weeks before entering region is obviously bad, do you want to have to rush through playing district without getting adequate rest (plus possibly not being in shape from the long layoff). I'm sure there are a number of teams that practiced during the snow stuff, but I know there are a number that weren't allowed. If kids don't work on their own, that's a week plus of doing nothing. Jumping into playing three games in 3-4 days isn't a good idea if they've lost some conditioning. Whole situation is a Catch 22.

  17. That’s what I thought that it started Friday and not Thursday. I don’t see how a region tournament (boys or girls) would start before all of the district tournament play for the corresponding district was completed

  18. I was not really referring to Stone, the only common opponent is Cleveland and the margin of victory is about the same. I was talking more about Cookeville. I know matchups mean more than anything, but you can gauge some teams when they’re losing or barely beating average or below average teams. For example both Cookeville and Bradley played Knox Catholic twice. Bradley won with the combined score of 69 points and Cookeville with by 10. Cookeville also lost to an average Baylor team and Bradley won by 30+ So I look at that I think there’s a big gap between those teams. But I could be totally wrong and only time will tell.

  19. My son Mitchell will attend school at The University of the South (Sewanee) and play football for the Tigers! We're so proud of him and excited for this opportunity! He will do a signing ceremony soon.

  20. Depends on how he feels sometimes. When he's "in it" mentally he's darn good and Shannon usually has them ready this time of the year.

  21. I am not placing blame on anyone. Yes, parents could reach out to coaches. Yes, coaches should have sent emails in a timely manner. I just said IF parents had the link directly sent to them from TSSAA it actually IS their fault. Blaming parents for not reaching out to coaches, or coaches not sending links does not get anyone in. Do you have two tickets you are willing to sell to me?

  22. Actually watching online will be better than being there in some ways. There is no elevation of seats so everything is on ground level meaning you will be having to fight to be in the first couple of rows to even be able to see the mat from a seat

  25. I've seen state medalists go to other states and beat champs. Ive seen kids who miss the podium here go to other states and beat finalists. Styles make matches. Tennessee is not a garbage state anymore. Kids can leave here and have tons of success against other successful states.

  26. I am rolling my eyes over how this conversation turned into a weight lifting argument instead of who you think will do well in the wrestling state tournament next weekend. HOWEVER - as these two topics are both major interests of mine- I couldn't resist commenting on the matter. So.... I looked up Howard's profile on football recruiting websites- his squat is listed as 550 and his bench is 350. As he is a major football recruit, I would assume these numbers are very close to accurate. Over a year ago, (So I would assume Cummings is stronger now) Brandon and Trevor showed me videos on Instagram of Cummings lifting well over these numbers. If my memory serves me correctly, I want to say he was front-squatting over 600 for maybe 3 reps? He was also bench pressing over 400 at only 195 body weight. If you guys are wanting to argue applicable strength, or functional strength on a wrestling mat, thats one thing. But- there is really no way of actually measuring that. However I think most of you though are basing your opinions on how big a kid's muscles are in a singlet. Now in terms of traditional power lifts- Squat, Bench, Deadlift- I would say Stone is a safe bet for an all-time top 3, yes only weighing 235 (who really weighs 223). If you do not believe me, come find me next Friday (It's pretty obvious who I am) and I can show you how to find the video proof, and explain to you how elite those numbers really are for a 17 year old kid, not just from Tennessee, but in the world. P.S..... get off the Hunter Allen myths already. I beat him. And was stronger. Don't believe me? Again, come talk to me next Friday. lol

  29. He also beat him 10-3 this year. It will probably be Langford and Cummins in the finals but I say its a 50/50 matchup and would not call it an upset at all.

  30. Nope, seen him handle large 285lbs guys, some top in the state! I just picked who I thought was best. Never said it was going to be easy, but think he is smart enough to do it.

  31. In D2AAA every school plays at least 6 of the other AAA schools each season. MBA actually played 8 out of 10 in 2019 (nobody can use 2020 as a barometer. Those schools understand the "playing field" of D2AAA and will play you. After that they typically have to play in or out of state large publics to fill their schedules. In AA, you do not see near as many cross state AA games being played. They are all searching D2A for winnable games. When you jumped in the big boy D2 pool you eliminated yourself from playing 90% of public schools ever again. Not a level playing field and everybody knows it. They are not going to contribute to your next "hype" video" so you can run the score up. You have to come to that realization. It will not change. That leaves very upper level mid D1 programs like Pearl Cohn, Alcoa etc or 6 A schools that have a similar problem filling their schedules because the lower tier schools don't want to be their next victim. Whether you realize it or not you are the victim of your own self promoting ways when it comes to filling up a schedule. Trying to smile and telling them you will pray for them while beating them 61-0 or 66-8 just doesn't work more than once. And the IMG statement was made by him at a school function. My ears work just fine.

  32. Lipscomb should pray for CPA to have some down years, because even with all that talent Dilfer is recruiting in from all across the country, his only chance for a gold ball is for CPA to have a down season. He will never out coach Ingle Martin.

  33. All they had to do was move up. You are already playing them in all the other sports. He talked all that "next IMG" mess but then stayed down in the AA class. Which is it?
