  1. Jesus I'll be glad when we get reclassified in 2 years to stop this whining. We have hovered around the cutoff for the entire decade and a half I have lived in Union City. It so happened that we fell on the A side this time. If the TSSAA had not decided to do 2 year classification I don't think we would have dropped. Kids go back and forth from City to County from K-12 all the time. Central has 2 feeder schools on the edge of Union City city limit and run as many buses in town as city school does. But all the people arguing on this post knows this stuff. I have always assumed a reason why people would send their kid 10 miles away to the school system with the confederate flag on a sign out front rather than the better rated school system in the town where you live but that's not really a conversation for this board. Now can we please just talk about football

  2. At the same time wouldnt this penalize TN high school football? In my few years on this earth I think this is the most talent/popular TN has ever been. Kids leaving Mississippi,Texas,California,NY to come play hs football in TN. These are pose to be the some of the top states in HS football.

  11. OR and Kingsport has been a great long term rivalry, but, there are long gaps between games at times. I can't say what the record of it is, it was 22-22 several years ago. I think DB probably has a few games on OR now.

  13. Prayers to the family and friends. A very talented writer and follower of high school football and not knowing him just hearing about him from those who did know him , he was wonderful human being. He will be badly missed . May God bring some peace to his family and friends. R.I.P. Donovan.

  14. This. Honestly, I did not understand it until I found out that most school systems have the exact same policy. Take a look at Crockett. I would bet 20% of the students there do not live in Crockett county.

  15. This is 100 percent correct. Most of these kids are not running from something but to something. There are really on 2 possible solutions and i don't see either happening. 1. TSSAA changes the rule to say you may not move for athletic purposes and investigates each case fully and requires the burden to be on the family's to prove it. Not saying this is what should be done but its what other states do that are not experiencing it this extent 2. Schools must start to prioritize athletics and development. To do this coaches must be paid and in return expectations must be raised. You cant pay a public school coach $72,000 s year and expect them to teach a full course loan, run a program that develops the kids year round, helps in there recruiting, and has little to no to say in who his assistants are. Like it or not football is viewed as the front porch of most schools in the South. If you don't care what your porch looks like then don't get upset when no one is interested in your home. Schools cant have it both ways. You cant get upset for kids leaving when you are not giving them a chance to pursue there goals at the highest level. If you have little to no off season program, no help in recruiting, and run the same offense for 30 years with no growth then you need to accept that the talented kids will leave your school if given the chance

  17. Cornersville 2018 squad had 11 shutouts in a row and only giving up an average of 4 points a game for the year. Pretty remarkable.

  18. You’re missing the point. Yes, the town has a large population. However, due to a no-zoning rule in Obion County, they are able to dictate their numbers and allow/not allow students for certain reasons. If you don’t benefit the school academically or athletically than you are deferred to another school in the county. I thought this was common knowledge of UC!

  23. GWAVE1 I was in Gallatin last week and drove by the Wave Yard and the new bleachers look really nice, hope they didn’t move them too far from the sideline like most stadiums today. The Wave Yard is still my favorite place to watch a game especially when it’s a good competitive game. Lots of great memories over the years there. With the renovation I guess that all but ends about a facility being built at the school , hope they continue to play there it’s truly a great place and I know it means a lot to the Gallatin family.

  25. I don't know anything about AC's enrollment, but I do know they beat every team on their schedule last year to win the state championship. And I don't consider Powell, Bearden, Science Hill, Elizabethton, Greeneville etc easy teams, but everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.

  29. Bradley got along ways to go to beat Maryville from what I saw tonight. Boo Carter is a great player, no doubt. Not overly impressed by the QB or the other receiver. Bradley OL and DL need to get a lot better if they are going to make an impact in 6A. Varsity scores was 14-0. Bradley's score came when the backups were playing. Alcoa dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball.

  30. Maryville has won 17 championships under the playoff system. Only Alcoa has won more but head to head Maryville owns a 66-25 lead in the series. That means Alcoa would have to win 42 straight to overtake Maryville in the series. I would be over 100 years old if that happened. What cracks me up is a guy from Cheatham County jumps on the Alcoa bandwagon. I guess since Cheatham County hasn't never won anything you need to find someone else to root for. You have no affiliation to Alcoa but you are their biggest cheerleader. It reminds me of all these Tennessee born and bred people jumping on the Alabama bandwagon.
