  2. A wide range from running athletic facilities, working in a factory and at least one petty thief.

  3. Private schools wrestle 8th graders a good bit. If Father Ryan doesn't, I'm sure it was an error but nothing to get bent out of shape over.

  4. From my perch at West High, We like to pay ours the going rate on Sutherland but then again we like winning gold balls and also like winning the first game of the year. My question for my Bearden High folks is why pay Abernathy, a glorified Starbucks employee for Jeremy Pruitt and Kevin Lane who is a solid assistant, over ten thousand dollars each per KCS to run the defense? I’m not sure if Abernathy is still a barista but last I heard Kevin installs light fixtures.

  5. ive always said that im not interested in how many wins a coach has. I'm interested in what that coach does with the talent hes got. especially in high school sports when recruiting is not part of the job description. Good for the govs. why i always respected the great Charlie Bayless. he got the most out of his boys.

  6. In hindsight she should have gone to White County. This is a lot of Middle School small town political drama being put out in a newspaper article and it just does not make a lot of sense to air all the dirty laundry. All I can think about is all those applicants who are probably counting their blessings on not taking the job in Warren County last Spring.

  7. Agree...can't always judge by W's. What's available to work with has an enormous amount of impact on the results you produce, and he seems to have gotten absolutely all you could ask for with what he was given. When hiring a coach, you can get the home run, take a chance on someone, or usually can get that "solid" mediocre guy,...not many are in position to name their coach of choice, and choosing from the latter, I'll take a chance on potential every day of the week. No matter how respected any coach in any sport is, someone took a chance and hired them to their first job. The "mediocre" coach reminds me of a life stance I learned from my grandfather...do as you've always done, you'll get what you've always got". Hire someone because they can get you seven or eight wins, and one or two playoff wins a season...be prepared to do no better than that.

  9. This is a good hire. Not my school but I hate to see him go from NW Tennessee. I can't speak for his time prior to his Obion Central years. But OCCHS was FAR MORE well known for their band than their football team before he got there. The energy & effort from that team was night & day different the last few years. There was definitely some buy in from the players. Why didn't he win more? He took this team from nothing to respectable. OCCHS is farm boy central. Just big strong country boys that love football but they don't have a long list of elite speedy athletes. We play them every year & they were a good group of kids that played good clean hard nosed ball the right way. Nobody hangs 60+ on Haywood as a fluke. There were glances of bigtime football at OCCHS with Justin Palmer.

  10. GQ will end up at a state university in Tennessee (not UT), it continues to count towards his state retirement as did Murvil and ETSU. I know some of you will call BS on that, but mark it down.

  11. One actual teacher, and lots of teacher assistants because none of them could get into let alone graduate from college.

  12. Don’t run him off like you boys have done to the other coaches. It looks like he is a good coach. Won pretty big in that area in the past.

  14. Which is funny since he’s never going to get a head coaching job in this state. Scott Cummings will get his 20th job before Lane will be considered.

  15. Starters Greeneville loses are #4,#10, #63,#33,#44,#9,#8,#2,#52,#80. Key Starters or Contributors we have coming back are #12,#20,#54,#65,#3, #1, #11,#55, #14,#77 (rotated on the D line). Graduating a great Senior Class that has a lot of starts under their belt especially on D. Luckily the JV team has been very successful over the past years along with the middle school and will see how that translates to Varsity Ball. If we can fill in holes on D and on the Oline and give #7 time to get the ball in our speedy Wr hands we will be alright (We already know what #12 can do with the ball in his hands running or receiving) and as long as we can make in game changes like stated before.

  16. It’s very possible! You better beat us now! We have faced all of toughest obstacles on the schedule. Well besides the Greenville Christmas tournament. Once our younger classmen figure it out we will ok. Still don’t think nobody beats us at home this year

  17. Just wanted to say I think Josh gets too much flak for his recruiting style. He's not just about building a team he's passionate about helping kids play where they'll shine. Sure people might not like how he goes about it but it's all about giving these kids great opportunities. And hey with the talent he's pulling in next season is looking super promising. Let's cut him some slack it’s only his second year after all!

  19. So you are basically saying that kids from the inner city of Knoxville don't deserve the education a private school can provide? Who's racist again? I'm asking for everyone that read your message.

  20. What is Grace going to do to start winning next year? Tough region for them to compete in when the "higher ups" in the school don't seem to care much about football.

  21. Fulton will be back in 3 years GCA will never be back until they start doing what the other privates do to get athletes. Too many hands in the cookie jar there I am told. Congratulations to Fulton and Coach Long. I'm sure going back to your home school as the head coach is a good feeling.

  22. Most of the LC offensive line returns. LC should be better at QB and LC always has RB. With that said LC will be young and probably 2 years away from being back to their usual self. UC will be the best in the region. So. Fulton returns alot in 2024. If SF is ever going to make a move it will be this year. LC will be anywhere from 2nd to 5th in the region.
