How much of the ticket sales does each school make at the State Championship games?

The answer is 0. None of the gate money OR the tickets that schools presale goes to the schools. I know there has been a lot of displeasure with the TSSAA from people on this board, but this is theft. How much longer do we let the TSSAA line their pockets instead of letting programs keep that money?

Pretty sure that’s right

That’s incorrect. The TSSAA pays schools from the money that Cookeville gives them to host the games there. Each school is guaranteed something like $2700 and then 18 teams split an additional $50,000 based on what your team presales. There’s no percentage of your actual sale or gate money that goes to TSSAA. Meigs County presold nearly 1000 tickets. That’s $12,000. They won’t make half of that back. This is money that should be going back to programs, but the sheriff of Nottingham that is the TSSAA must be paid their dues.

What we were told also.

You get a percentage of the money set aside, not what you sell. The TSSAA sets aside $100,000 which sounds like a lot, but it’s only 8,300 tickets. That’s how the TSSAA guarantees themself to make more money, by keeping the money from ticket sales. You could theoretically presale $1,000,000 worth of tickets and make less than ten grand.

A monopoly is a firm who is the sole seller of its product, and where there are no close substitutes. An unregulated monopoly has market power and can influence prices.

 Sound familiar?

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
