Lake County had kids from Dyersburg Dresden and Covington on last years state championship team.. what exactly are you complaining about?

Lake County has 3 transfers in 25 years. Other schools have that many or more every year. There should be some way to slow down all the transfers. There will always be hardships and that cannot be helped. Some schools very success depends on transfers instead of homegrown kids. I guess alot less work for coaches who rely on transfers. There are several schools in this state who are football factories. Would certain schools have all the success if they had to rely on homegrown kids. It's very doubtful.

It's not a complaint. It was a discussion starter. I think alot of people would be surprised at certain schools success rate without transfers.

Agreed, Peabody has very few transfers as well I think 4 in the last 10 years or more,it can be done without them,I know I read of four or more a year ,mostly in the east Tn. area.

4 a year in Pittsburg is a down year. They bring them in as quick as Lodge jobs open up

It's not if you go as a freshman. You know that. Its recruiting in most cases and everyone knows it.

I had no idea that anyone was speaking of Freshmen, which is a huge reach even including them in the conversation. How do you "transfer" (title of the thread) if you've never enrolled in high school? Yes, recruiting is illegal, but speaking to potential athletes who haven't enrolled anyplace if they inquire isn't. There's a fine ethical line behind this discussion, and you're tiptoeing along it with both arms flailing if you want to "control" personal choices to justify keeping kids for your football team. Understand that I'm speaking from the viewpoint of one of the have nots... but if they aren't "all in" for my school, I'd rather not have them than force them to stay.

Thats a fact and a lot of schools get them before they start to high school, people watch youth clubs and Jr High and cherry pick. Happens in this county and I'm sure it happens all over. All the talent don't just happen to be at the stronger schools year after year.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
