I can agree with this.  And one thing that people seem to forget - or don't realize - Mr. Bible doesn't owe us a thing during this search ... other than hiring a qualified candidate.  Who the candidates are, when he will make a hire, what he is looking for, none of this is owed to us.  As fans, we want to know this information, but this is his and his alone to share if he wants.

You nailed it. People just need to be patient. End all the drama and support whoever gets the job.

Once a Pirate, always a Pirate should be taken to heart...

Who's ego is in the way?  Because Victory doesn't want to touch this coaching hire process.  This will be one person's decision.  Tim Bible.

You may be correct. I've heard from someone very close to the situation that isn't the case. I'm not here to argue I want the best hire for the players. Imo that is Jones but I do understand there are a lot of factors that go into making a hire. There could several very good applicants that we are unaware of.  I understand there is a process and I will support whatever decision is made.

I disagree 100%. There is a process that has to be played out. The qualified TEACHER and COACH will get the job. This decision is for Mr. Bible to make. Interviews will start happening soon. Coach Grider is not involved in the process at all.

I disagree with some of that but I'm not here to argue. I completely understand the hiring process and trust that the best decision will be made.  It is no secret I support Jones and think his resume and years that he has promised the program is the best decision. In the end I will support whoever is hired.

I will support whoever they hire, BUT...I must agree with others. Why are we debating this? I will just say it..

Let’s just be practical. Chris Jones is 10 times the coach of anyone else that has applied.... and I don’t even need to know who all has applied. If someone doesn’t hire him then that  person should receive their own private escort... OUT OF TOWN.

Just trust the process.  A simple explanation would be there is more to the hire than just football.  I think @powerp said it best.

I totally 100% agree. If we do hire someone else I want to see there resume compared to Jones, but I am a PFL. To me I just don't like to have an outsider come in when we got someone that can lead the program that went to school here, played football here, lives here, and has more hard working ethics to make a program the best it can be. I guarantee you Chris will be one of the hardest working people you will get to know if you don't know him.

I understand what you are saying, but Danny Wilson wasn't a homegrown talent either and he did very well as a coach here.  I don't mind an outsider as long he is the right choice for us.

Just to play Devil's Advocate on Chris, and I'm not against him, just bringing a little something else to the conversation.  Having a great resume at a higher level doesn't always bring success at lower levels.  We've all seen college and pro coaches have success at one level but not at the other. There is a difference when handling different age groups it seems and some are better suited for one than the other.  At the same time though, having success at one school doesn't equate success at another.  A coach with multiple championships for one team may not be able to duplicate that success somewhere else.  In the end it's all a big crap shoot.  I just hope we don't crap out.

    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
