Jet Pride
I think they wanted to keep it in Cookeville but without the new turf for this year they moved it too Chattanooga for a couple years. I would not be surprised if it's back in Cookeville in 2023
TryNotToSuck
Lake County made it to Cookeville back in 2020. It's going to be a 5 hour drive for Lake County to travel to Chattanooga to play a game. It's about a 4 and a half hour drive for a school in Memphis to play a game. To put this into perspective, college football teams don't even take charter buses for a game that is 4 and a half hour drive and longer. They hop on the plane. If this is a problem, then why not play at MTSU again? Memphis can't host the state championship for football for a few reasons. One is the lack of locker room space. Yes, they have locker room space for the 12/11 AM kickoff, but not space for the 4/3 PM kickoff. Secondly, if the Memphis Tigers make it to the AAC championship game, they can potentially host the game and would have to ditch the TSSAA state championship. If Chattanooga wants to host the football state championships, then that'll be fine. If MTSU wants to host the basketball state championships, then that is great! I think the Murphy Center is an amazing facility to host basketball. However, let Memphis or Jackson host spring fling. I prefer Jackson because they have the facilities and it'll be more in a centralized location.
Meeru
Only had 2 cities put in for it. I was at the private school basketball at Tech this year and really liked it. I loved the games at Vandy and at Cookeville. Never really liked MTSU for football. However, having in at TN Tech you knew you were in a safe environment. Nuff said

Won’t even be close. We had our state convention in Chattanooga a few years ago. Rooms were very expensive. I’ve stayed for years in Cookeville for $55 or $60 a night. And a lot of homeless people are out at night in Downtown Chattanooga.

GWAVE1
Came down to Chattanooga reserved a block of hotel rooms for teams, media, etc while Cookeville did not and the travel is paid for between hotels, field houses and stadium, Cookeville was not. Plus the facilities are better at Chattanooga.

Parents drive further on weekends for little Timmy's AAU games. Chattanooga is by far a better destination site.

BooWhoWiseMan
Did UTC get new turf. If not the. Their turf is bad. Memphis is a dump and should never host anything especially the way their leadership handled this past season

Which is why the South Georgia schools have always opposed the finals being in Atlanta. They want them on campus, but always get out-voted.
