Your right but every time they have hired anyone from away from here it didn't work out. Rang, Nix and Sweetland are the perfect age and great experience and been there before and have the hardware to prove it. Only reason I bet Nix didn't shoot for the Catholic Job is anytime you let a fart over there a Leprechaun would jump out to smell it.

Blade worked out pretty well. If we weren’t in 6A (should’ve been 5A some of the years he was @ OR) at the time he was here (and had to play Maryville), I think he could’ve won a 5A championship @ OR, especially in 2012 when we lost to Maryville 35-25 in the playoffs. Other than him, the only guy we’ve hired outside of the program were Gaddis the first time around (Tullahoma) and Bill Young (Bearden), and that has been 30+ years ago. Gaddis worked out pretty dang well, if you ask me. Frankly, OR hasn’t had a lot of Head Coaches. This will be only the 11th Coach in program history, I think.

What qualifies as away from here? There's plenty of good candidates just in East TN. There's a few in middle tn that I imagine will throw their hat into the ring and would do well at OR

Ask Scott Blade how well it worked out for him at Oak Ridge after great success at Hillsboro only to leave Oak Ridge and win it all with Independence.

Job like OR is going to have a bunch of good options, not just people that have a connection to Blount County

OR must have told the DC at OR he was not who they were going with to replace Gaddis. Must be a pretty hard kick in the butt to be told by you home school you are not in their plans. Then do you try and stay on with the new HC who ever that is or maybe the new HC either demotes you because he is a defensive  guy or he brings in his own DC. Pull the plug on it all (even though some experts said you were the coach in waiting) take a pay cut , and go to HVA to maybe be successful or get run off and who knows what else. Coaching is a tough business where you might not know  who your friends are. Any chance he pulls out of HVA and get the OR HC job?

Like you said at the top, if he thought he was in the running I doubt he'd accepted the job at HVA

Well if it makes you feel any better, Indy gets their butt kicked on a regular basis since they moved to 6A.

Is the talent there pretty sparse as of late? I would think so, because I can’t see it being his coaching abilities. Seems all the Williamson Co talent has transferred to Summitt as of late, and of course Ravenwood is always talented. I’m betting Scott just doesn’t have much to work with right now, but being here, I don’t know, for sure.
