Enrollment Numbers

Curious: is this an average of how many students showed up from days 1-20? Or is this is the amount of students that showed up on the 20th day of school? If it's the amount of students that showed up on the 20th day of school, then it wouldn't surprised me if there are certain that are telling students to stay home *cough cough*.

Regardless, York Institute, Clarksburg, and Elizabethon all submitted today. Middleton submitted their number yesterday. West Tennessee (other than Shelby County) should be clear.

The 20'th day enrollment is just that, the enrollment number on the 20'th day that school is in session...not a head count of who's on campus that day. The 20 day delay is to keep everyone honest, and not be able to "forget" to register kids before turning in the report to TSSAA.

Thanks for clearing this up.  I appreciate it.

In the TSSAA member directory Adamsville has an enrollment of 550. If correct, 3A ???

If they do a complete reclassification, it will depend on where the breaks are made.  If they do the 20% change, then Adamsville would remain in 2a because the break is 556.

I'm not convinced there's a widespread issue with deflating enrollment counts. Those 20-day enrollment numbers aren't just for TSSAA use but broader application. I suspect there's as much (or more) incentive to keep those numbers up as school district funding is based largely on enrollment.

You might be surprised. One school a few years ago had about 100 under on the TSSAA listed enrollment compared to what was on the State Dept of Education site a few weeks later. It meant the difference between being 5A and 6A football.

Clarksburg could have submitted in 10 min. But not the smartest bunch over that way. It amazes me how that school keeps its doors open. But they are a proud bunch. They bleed red and white.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what happened.

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
